    can anyone help me,I have download some xvid files and they keep
    crashing my hard drive

    Crashing your HDD??? or just causing explorer to crash?
    If you are running XP then it is probably MS's buggy thumbnail shell.
    What build of XviD?
    Latest version here: http://www.aziendeassociate.it/cd///XviD.cvs.head.exe
    There were some decoder fixes a while back. If it still crashes explorer; disable the thumbnail shell.
