xvidcore.dll not found....help please...

    hi everyone.
    I've got a problem which has recently appeared. whenever I try and open cce basic or tmpg with a .avi file i get an error message xvidcore.dll not found.
    any help would be MUCH appreciated.
    Gspot tells me I've got the appropriate codecs installed.
