yellow string during video playback

    I have this problem during the playback of some videos, they have these yellow strings as shown below

    I tested playing the same video on linux(ubuntu) the same problem again, tried mplayer, totem. on windows, bsplayer, wmp and vlc player

    I thought it was a problem with the file so I tested it on another computer, but the yellow strings completly disapeared.

    any suggestions on what it might be?
    I use nvidia 8600gt btw and this is not the only video where it ocurred.

    Is is obviously not the video, since it plays okay on different PC. Not the player, since you tried a few. Probably not your codec pack, since many of the players tested on have their own internal codecs. You could blame the video card( I know you don't want to, but not much left). Maybe reinstall the drivers, maybe you can get a different set of drivers more compatible with your OS.
