Okay, I'm makin' coasters. Grrr. New to the DVD burning thing, this website has been a terrific help so far... I did all the stuff with DVDShrink, then went to bed while my DVD was a-burnin'... this morning, got up, and saw that it failed in burning... dang. Soooo, I tried burning from the ripped files in the computer, and got "illegal disc" error... tried setting my burn speed a little lower, still got the same error message. Using a Sony DVD burner and Sony DVD-R's... What follows is the log... ---------------------------------------------- 1A22-[bold]serial number removed[/bold] Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 11:35:32 AM Nero Version: 6.6.0.8 Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DRU-800A> Version: KY01 - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.6.0.8 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <TSSTcorp CDW/DVD TS-H492A>Version: HP03 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.8 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : HDS728080PLAT20 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : TSSTcorp CDW/DVD TS-H492A atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SONY DVD RW DRU-800A atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === TSSTcorp CDW/DVD TS-H492 E: CDRom0 SONY DVD RW DRU-800A F: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 39845888 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 247MB (253424kB) Free physical memory: 63MB (65424kB) Memory in use : 74 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 15.12.2005 UDF/ISO compilation 7:51:02 AM #1 Phase 112 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation started 7:51:02 AM #2 Phase 114 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 7:51:02 AM #3 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6179 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet :FALSE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : TRUE Allow more than 255 characters in path : TRUE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 7:51:02 AM #4 Phase 111 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files sorted 7:51:02 AM #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 7:51:02 AM #6 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer SONY DVD RW DRU-800A running 7:51:02 AM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3293 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 7:51:02 AM #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3293 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 7:51:02 AM #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3153 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 7:51:03 AM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 260 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB) Last address to be written: 2286127 (508:01.52, 4465MB) 7:51:03 AM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 272 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 7:51:03 AM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2339 Recorder: SONY DVD RW DRU-800A, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: SONY08 - D1 Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193 7:51:03 AM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 438 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 7:51:03 AM #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 830 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 2286128 (2286128) = #2286128/508:1.53 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2286128 blocks [SONY DVD RW DRU-800A] -------------------------------------------------------------- 7:51:03 AM #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1043 Prepare recorder [SONY DVD RW DRU-800A] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; Any help would be appreciated!
First, you need to edit out your Nero Serial number: Update your nero to the latest version. YOu can do that here: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php You are also several firmware versions behind. You can update here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces Here is an issue as well. You need to free up some of your memory. You only have 63mb available. You should also upgrade your memory to a minimum of 512mb, but a gig would be better. Set your target size to 4300 so you do not burn to close to the edge of the media. While 6x burning is not considered fast, I would recommend 4x as most at this forum recommend this speed until you become very familiar with your chosen media and its peculiarities. This will probably resolve itself with the firmware update. Give these ideas a go and try again. Post back your results. Cheers
Thanks VERY much for the info, this forum and website has been very helpful... Forgive my being mr. dumb guy, but how can I tell which firmware is mine? I searched for sony, and I don't know what to do... Thanks again! Ted
Here is what you have: This is what you need: KYO6 Get it here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces Cheers.
