you either need to buy space on a server/run a server yourself, or just dump your images on something like Photobucket. that's about it to hosting yourself.

theres gotta be other ways than photoshop.i was thinking more like a thread dedicated to different ways to do it.it could almost be a forum topic.but you would need more to do than sig making to start a forum.

and are there any freeware programs that can do this?i got this freeware gif maker but it was created in the mid 90's so there isnt much you can do with it.:s

links..man i need links.come prepared will ya?..only teasing you.but i do have photoshop.it was under adobe photoshop.i thought it was a microsoft program.now i need some helpful hints or tips.ive read alittle of the tutorial but would appreciate some insider shortcuts.

and i'll check out that g.i.m.p program(if there happens to be a link in the near future).it might be easier to use or maybe even better all together.and it still would be nice to have a sig making thread for beginners like myself.i think i will make my first suggestion to the suggestion forum.im not good at making official suggestions.:)

To be completely honest, why pay for photoshop when you can use GIMP. Ive used it for a while and it does anything you could possibly ask for. Photoshop is over $200 retail last time i checked (or free, whatever youre into ;) and is only marginally better.
Btw, check for the many GIMP tutorials on the web and you should be set.

hopefully with some practice and maybe reading up on how to use the program i can do a hell of alot better than this.

that xara aint free.i already have photoshop and the gimp.photoshop was put on here by someone else to edit photographs.i didnt even know it was on the comp.and the gimp is freeware.

so far,the gimp looks to be a better program for animated gifs.im sure photoshops main function is for photograph editing.it also is harder to understand than the gimp.

neither do i.those were premade logo fonts.all i did was type my name then selected some premade effects that are incorporated into the gimp.then i saved it as a gif file then hosted it at imageshack.that sig i made is really simple.i just need to practice on the settings to get things right.basically all i did was clicked the mouse on settings(no manual artwork).

making gifs is easy. It's just like a movie. ya just gotta make the movie frame by frame, then use Adobe Image ready to link all the frames together to form ya gif. Thats how the Mrs made my siggy :)

its easy if you have the artwork already made for you.but if you design your own artwork then it becomes a task.im still in the learning phases of the gimp program.mostly trial and error.i hate reading tutorials.you have to fall down before you learn how to ride a bicycle.but i wouldnt mind having some threads about the subject.forums are better than tutorials because you can get right to the problem instead of reading over stuff a couple times to comprehend what was explained.the tutorial in photoshop is so vague.i swear i wanted to find the guy who wrote it and cram the computer screen, with the tutorial open,up one of his orifices(it would be easier if it was on paper).

I actually have a video tutorial for adobe photoshop. Tis a heap better than any written tutorial. Although, if you do just do a couple of the tasks in the official tutorial then you pretty much learn all the necesary skills to do some decent pics to use in ya gifs.
