You can't. IE=the file system for XP. See, they had this great idea that basic HTML would be a great way to power the windows in XP, forward, back, design continuity and all that. Not sure why no security genius at MS didn't realize what a security vulnerability that would be. Besides, it's ok to keep it around, some sites still require it. Banks, universities, etc.
firefox is great.... i just went and got it after reading your suggestions... and i already like it better than ie
Here are the extentions I use...don't know if I could live w/o them at this point! Lol. Adblock-I never see ads...ever. filterset G. autoupdater-keeps me current on never seeing ads. forecast fox-Knowing the weather is nice! distrust-while activated it remembers where you go, then automatically deletes all history/cookies/temp files as soon as you close the browser. linkintification-Turns hxxp links into real links...or plain text links into real links. VERY handy for some torrent sites. torbutton-connects firefox via the Tor proxy, simple on/off. There's a jillion more...and they're one of the things that so make firefox > IE.
yeah firefox is fusking awesome...... the extensions and the themes as well.... blow IE out the water...... and getting back to the subject.... the new zonealarm pro... <$50+an additional $6.95 > for an extended year is a great package.... i just made the switch on one of my pc's from mcafee and saved 30 bucks.... and the zonealarm has all the same features......
i also wanted to mention F-Secure...... i have used it (provided with the cable) and had no issues.... we keep it on our beta machine (the piece-o-shit pc) because i dont know if its quite as good as my prescription service.... seeing it as shareware on www.downloads.com kinda made me concerned... but it has worked fine... at one point it had 85 in quarantine and was still up and running fine.... what do you all think about F-Secure?
It's very good, kinda heavy on resources though.. And it don't matter too much it being shareware on http://www.download.com
