zte wireless phone base

again please move as needed. Is the ZTE or similar device designed to pick up the internet in my residence by its antenna just as my wifi adapter does for my desktop? If yes will it use my last phone # assigned to me by my cable co. that is now not active? Or will the device connect me to an activation/registration phone? Or is this phone # provided in the packaging? Or does this device or another type use a combination of usb for power which comes from a wall wart or computer port and uses my existing wifi adapter? Either type would work. Advice please.
