Eurovox MAX - PEAA on display

Hi guys,

Wondering if someone could PLEASE help. I'll briefly explain my circumstances.

1. About 3 weeks ago, was watching my Eurovox MAX when the screen froze. I killed the power, rebooted it and all I had on the screen was (----), quickly followed by them disappearing and a flashing (-) going clockwise around the screen. This repeats every 5 secs or so. I left it to see what happened and it eventually (hours later) said PEAA.

2. As a result I checked the threads on this site and found that my Eurovox Max Red 2007 box is NOT a clone and none of the resistors are burned out.

3. I have also never re flashed the box and as a result I attempted that today using a null modem connector.

The problem I now have is that the download will not start because of the problem I have. When I start it it flicks between COM 1, COM 2 and COM 3 and the reciver cannot be detected. I eventually got the download to start when I manually selected COM 2 only for the download to fail!! Tried it twice now but no chance.

Can anyone help me. I would be obliged. Many thanks.

 

PEAA message may actually indicate that you have a clone box and you may have flashed it with the wrong firmware, where did you get the box also have you looked inside at the screw heads on the board to check whether it is a clone or not? if it is a clone the heads will be painted red.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Yeah almost positive its NOT a clone. Checked all the photographs offered from the forum. Opened it and ALL the screw heads are silver etc....

Hiteck, That was the firmware I had already tried. I actually downloaded it from your (superb) instructions.

Just comes up that the download fails, however I have to manually select COM 2 for the download to start.

Any ideas ??

 

Are you using a USB adaptor along with a NULL modem cable? if yes have you installed the USB driver? also if your using vista along with the usb adaptor you will have problems.

Just using the 9 pin female to female null modem connector you recommended. Bought it in Map***s with the code you gave on your instructions.

Pi**ed off to the Max. Not using VISTA either. I have the earlier Windows. Doing my t*ts in !!!

Providing you have your com/ports set corectly in device manager it should be ok, it does say download fail then it changes to download successful, have you checked to see if firmware has gone on?

only other thing I could think of is to have a look at the C14 cap on the Power supply unit,



Usualy if faulty it is either swollen or leaking (but not always).

 

Have checked the C14 cap and it appears fine. How do I check if the firmware is on???

I've tried plugging it in and re attaching the aerial etc but no luck!!

 

If the firmware went on it would power up as normal and the peaa message would no longer be their, also the cap does not always have to be swollen or leaking to be faulty, try the previous firmware,

Neither firware options work mate. The box seems to take the download no problem and even flashes 'dnld' until it fails. After that I get the (----) flashing and then the (-) firing around clockwise.

The only one thing I would say is that it takes AGES, and I mean hours for the PEAA message to come up. Don't know if that makes any difference!

Maybe look at replacing the C14 thingy. Do you have a link to that mate.

Yeah, bought it on Ebay. Can't remember the sellers I.D. Bought a wee while ago now.

Don't know if it makes a difference. The box display is now showing 4 zeros !!!!!!

Would have to unplug it and take it through to the livingroom to see if it has worked.

Plug it back to your feed do a factory default then a powerscan using the correct symbol rate. Make sure you plug your feed into the RF in and NOT the ANT!

Now getting access to the menu etc. Do you have a thread for going back to factory settings / powerscan. Never done it before.

Make sure you get your symbol rate right otherwise you wont pick anything up, usualy for ex n*l its 6887 and 6952 for ex TW.

Your a star fella. Managaed to get it back up and running. Got the 2nd half of the Liverpool game which was good.

Just another wee problem.....Sorry mate.

I am actually getting some channels I never got before (eg Liverpool channel) but am now not receiving some (for instance the Sky Movie channels although getting some of them). Have checked all the TVCh1 scrambled channels but none of them are movie channels.

Any suggestions? Going to my scratcher now mate so a reply for tomorrow would be great and appreciated.

P.S With VM and received 175 TV channels when I scanned. Don't know if this will help you.
