Session Fixation Error Writing Lead In. I searched the threads here and I found that am having the exact same problem this guy here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/352367 was having. Yet, I did the same thing and I am still having that same problem. I updated my firmware like he did yet I'm still having problems. I have the same drive as him as well PHILIPS DVD+-RW DVD8631. Is there other things I need to make sure are updated? I even used this DumpASPI, KillASPI and InstASPI thing to change that as well. I read somewhere else(forgot where) that it might help but nothing. I'm just at a loss as to what the hell is going on.
What media are you using and what speed are burning at? Good media to use - Taiyo Yuden & Verbatim (single layer) burned at 8x, Verbatim for dual layer burned at 2.4x or 4x. Do you have a log you can post from whatever program you are using?
Right now I'm using Sony DVD+R dvds and I usually burn at 2.4 or 4x for speed. And here is a log from imgburn:
Well it looks like the firmware update didn't take cause it's still on CD21. Here's the link for the latest - link. Have you tried any other media? That's another thing I would rule out too.
Well this was my bad, I posted the wrong log. I used it again right when I seen that you posted asking for one and I ended up posting an older one. Here is the newest one with the actual firmware update. And no, I haven't tried any other media yet. I was going to but I guess I just wanted to rule everything else out but it seems since nothing else seems to be working I should probabaly give that a shot. No worries on the log bit at opticpain Posting both of them does at least show that that you have a good amount of memory available and aren't zapping it all up. Definitely try different media like Verbatim. Sony's usually aren't bad though I haven't seen the 8x media variety sold in a long time.
Kk, I'll go out and get some of the Verbatims and see if that does the trick. Yeah these ones I have been using I have had for probably about 2 years now....maybe even longer lol. I just started to use them after all this time and here I am with this problem . Oh well, I'll give those others a shot and let ya know if I have any progress. Thanks for the help.

Ahh hell, I had a feeling it was the drive but I wanted to look into every other posibility. And I know I'm no longer under warranty(least I don't think I am) so I guess I'll give the great "english" speaking dell techs a call and see if I am. If not, I guess I'll be heading over to newegg for a new burner. Any suggestions? And thanks for the help binkie7 and also for the tip there on how crappy the burner is creaky.
Are external ones pretty much the same as the internal ones? Or are they any slower? I'm guessing they are but I really have no clue. If their not all that bad, I might get an external one. Though if I got a new internal one it gives me a reason to dink around with this one on the inside and get used to all the parts possibly and get more familiar with it.
External are about 2x or more than external - my LiteOn external was around $70'ish while my internal ones were around $30 at newegg. Slower not really as long as you're using usb 2.0 which any pc in the past few years is. Two drives I'd look at are Pioneer and LiteOn at newegg.com. Even if it is the media with the price of burners now I also buy a new - hell I have quite a few - you're looking at probably under $35. If you decide to try different media - worse case you use it in the new drive. edit: typo
