So I am about to order a DVD drive for ripping (since my Plextor is locked to 2x ripping) and I figured I'd better ask first.

What is the best DVD drive to get for ripping???

Although I still recommend going with the 167T, Plextors have a SpeedRead function that'll unluock the read speeds. Try this:

Make sure the drive is empty, press and hold the eject button until the light blinks green three times, let up on the eject button and the tray will eject with the read speed unlocked. DVD Decrypter is also set up to automatically take advantage of SpeedRead if you're using a Plextor burner to rip.
