I have done that so many time MS knows me by first name w/ directions to the house... LOL

Only had this winXPP system set up for a month maybe. Thank you very much ddp. Looks like that maybe the only way out... I just swap HD format this use as a second. No problem. I am real good at it. Lots of experience!! Have every thing backed.

It has been an adventure. So glad AfterDawn is not pv'ed at me for anything. Nice not to be in do do.
won't take me long to be all clear running again.

Learning a lot here, don't think I'll ever learn to spell worth a spit. If I did, then how would the snob's feel superior?

Don't think I'll have to edit this one.

I can download .zip files okay. was going to try to find a cause for the no .exe download. MS doesn't know either. only that it does have to do with sp2. They are working on the problem.

was hoping to get out of installing all my software again. I know they must think I have 20 or 30 computers as many times registering the same software. Just a follow up ... thanks

The problem was in the registry. Ran a registry edit program deleted everything it found not relevant. The Virus protection found MYDOOM.L House Call found AGOBOT.XM. Sure thought the virus program would get them before they did their thing, guess not. Running other programs to make sure they are gone. Whew! I still would not know if it weren't for the registry program. This site was helpful as well if you want to take a look How to Optimize XP. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/OptimizeXP.html

    In download heaven again.
