I have VIDEO_TS files and want to put them onto one DVD. I cannot just put all the .vob, .ifo & .bup files into one TS folder as they all have the same file names, I have tried renumbering them as 1, 2 etc but DVD player will only recognise the first file. Must be something to do with the .ifo file I suppose but I can't fix it. iDVD or DVD Studio Pro wont open .vob or .avi files and I don't have enough disc space to convert them all to .DV with ffmpegx first. Any ideas greatly received... Slanko.
do u have dvd2onex? if so do what thelox714 says use the join feature in dvd2onex. read the manual that comes with it to figure it out.
Thanks for the reply.... I'll need to use DVD2OneX to shrink to fit the whole thing to 4.7GB at the end anyway, but I really want to keep each .vob file separate on the disc. Joining will just give me one big file, so each episode will merge into one long one. I know it can be done!
no, what you will have is a video_ts folder that contains all of the vobs from the other video_ts folders. it won't be one big vob and you will still have chapters.
I find it easier to rename all the vob files make sure they are in the right order, delete all the ifos and bup files then recrerate ifos in ifo edit and then you may need to run it through shrink to fit .
I usually join vobs with this guide i find it easier with ifo edit which is here http://www.ifoedit.com/ Step-by-step instructions: 1 - make a directory called dir_1 2 - copy the VOBs you have ripped into dir_1 3 - delete any FILE that STARTS WITH VIDEO_TS 4 - delete any file that ENDS WITH .BUP or .IFO 5 - delete any file that ENDS WITH _0.VOB 6 - now you SHOULD have JUST the film VOBs 7 - IF NEEDED, rename them (individually) so they fit the form VTS_01_x.VOB, for example: if you have a VOB named VTS_03_1.VOB, rename it to read VTS_01_1.VOB, repeat for the _2.VOB etc. etc. 8 - Run IFOEdit 9 - click Create IFOs 10 - select Create 1 PGC only, select Create Chapter for each Cell 11 - browse to dir_1, select VTS_01_1.VOB 12 - make sure Destination directory for IFO files same as source is TICKED, click OK 13 - wait while it processes 14 - in the top pane you will see TWO entries, highlight the BOTTOM one 15 - click Get VTS sectors 16 - click Quit
nice short guide.. i tried downloading that ifoedit thing.. but i found it to be an ".EXE" file which is for PC. i thought this was a mac forum.
Yes I'm not a peecee guy either, but ifoedit under virtual peecee has been a useful tool now and then...

Blimey! Virtual PC is a lot of hassle...I worked it out though- drag all the AVI files into the 'video' tab on Toast- it's easy to move the episodes into the right order and there's a slider to pick the scene as the thumbnail for an automatic menu (it's a bit basic- but a start). I now have a fully fucntional dvd. I had to do it over 2 discs though, as the file was 6.2gb. dvd2oneX couldn't read it to compress (said it was encrypted) and even using MTR to rip from the disc image this mysterious encryption remained. Quality is good though, so I don't really mind having to change the disc after 3 episodes... Cheers for the tips chaps! Slanko.
i thought toast was on mac.. you bought virtual pc for this process... but you're going back to the mac? or are you doing this just for a small process? i'm sorry but i am confused whats going on... but you did get what you were looking for.. so it really dont matter...
I didn't buy Virtual PC, I had just a play around on a colleague's machine... but all that did was remind me why I bought a Mac in the first place, so.. I didn't waste the money. I thought I'd try using the ifoedit program on VPC and use toast for the rest, since someone recommended that, but it turns out Toast can handle converting multiple avi files and burning them as DVD. It's all an education. S.
