You guys are awesome. Thanks so much for all your work and the great info. Have a question though. I have had a lot of luck downloading from other sites with the methods that you all have listed, but I am still unable to download from the following website.

    http://www.cbs.com/latenight/latelate/comedy/

Any help on downloading any of the videos at the link would be greatly appreciated.

I tired the instructions on downloading atomfilm videos but the movie does not come up in the list to download, there are a couple ads I downloaded so it looks like I did follow directions right.

Is atomfilms hiding the actual film now?
Or is it because I use Firefox?
Is there any program that can find and download it?
    Or some kind of recorder?

Yes Replay Media Catcher will download the atomfilms. 40 bucks though or you only get 3/4 of the movie.

    http://applian.com/replay-media-catcher/

Close your browser before you start and hit the record button, then find the video you want, it should pop into the record screen once you get there and download.

I'm rather pleased to have found a solution to the "embedded video cannot be DOWNLOADED" problem.

Before striking "embedded" videos, I had good success with WM Recorder on MOST videos.

    http://www.wmrecorder.com/index.php

Also some tough ones (that would not record automatically) by using URL HELPER. It "sniffs" traffic and displays URLs. The likely one has an "SWF" extension.

However embedded "flv" files seemed impossible to capture.

Some of the clever (but did not work for me) ideas posted on AfterDawn led me to what I think is a solution to the problem with "all" embedded videos.

Save the actual page that contains the video (usually in a flash player) to a file (usually HTML) on your hard drive. Open in an HTML editor and look down the script until you find a likely link named something like the content of the video.

NOTEPAD will do although it's a real jumble of text compared to something like WORD.

A dedicated HTML editor such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage is best.

Copy the URL (making sure it starts with "http://www.-----") and paste the URL into WM Recorder.

Here is an example of the VIDEO I wished to download.

    http://www.bluegobo.com/video/_production?var=10087

That is the URL page that is saved using "right click - Save Page As"

The clip is from the 1972 Tony Awards on US TV.

URL helper shows a URL http://www.bluegobo.com/video/_flvplayer.swf

However, this does not work in WM Recorder or any similar program.

This same file can also be found in Firefox by going Tools, Page Info and using the MEDIA tab.

Go ahead and try to download using thus URL. It will not work.

Searching the HTML for the overall page is the only way to get the correct URL.

The correct URL is found on line 128 in the HTML.

    flashvars=3D"file=3Dhttp://www.bluegobo.com/video/h2s_believeinyou71.flv&=

    This is the actual URL.

    http://www.bluegobo.com/video/h2s_believeinyou71.flv

COPY and PASTE into the URL window in WM Recorder.

Name the FILE what you like. Something like TonyAwards_TV1972.

Click RECORD and it will prompt you to permit ".flv" as the file extension.

Click YES and the recording will start.

When 100% is achieved, right click the file in the RECORD WINDOW and CLICK "Preview Recorded File".

The SAVED file can be found in the default "Recordings Folder" in the WM Recorder "SETTINGS". It will be something like "C: Program Files/WMR11/Recordings/TonyAwards_TV1972"

Quite a bit of stuff to do to get it - but it works. I suspect ALL THE TIME.

Appreciate FEEDBACK for other tough "embedded" flash movies.

Is there a way to download the video (without having to pay for any extra programs) from this site?:

    http://www.tonyawards.com/en_US/index.html

If you look underneath the main "screen" on the front page and click on the fourth icon underneath it, that's the video I'm trying to get. It seems really tough though, since it just shows up in the same window.//

If anyone can help, it would be AMAZING. Thanks!

Hello, Videoguy1. I have a tough one. (Actually three.) Hope you can help!

First, I have tried "Flashget". Not very helpful for most things. I just tried the free version of "WM Recorder" and while much nicer than Flashget, it still will not give me these files! They are hosted at another server, is as much as I have been able to figure out. Thanks.

    The URLs are as follows:

    http://newborns.stanford.edu/video/gomco-video.html

    http://newborns.stanford.edu/video/plastibell-video.html

    http://newborns.stanford.edu/video/mogen-video.html

Your help is much appreciated! I have tried looking in the cache, etc. etc.

Nathan Replay Media Catcher downloaded those videos fine.
Are you only looking for a free program only?

Rachel88 I had trouble playing that video on my browser, but the program did download something just after I clicked on the picture below.
But after the download I could not play the video, said it was corrupted.

Ok. I downloaded replay media catcher. It seems to have downloaded most of an .flv file for one of my videos. However, it wants me to register to play even that partial file. I just want to make sure it "works" okay before I invest $40!

    Here is my challenge!
    http://you.video.sina.com.cn/b/442442-1496285781.html

Yes it is all in Simplified Chinese. But none of the ideas presented to seem to help me. I was able to use some of the techniques at other websites. This one and another one are my choices. Also how to download videos from Yahoo movies? Those at my favorites portion would seem to be flash or flv movies? right?
