got his dreambox back working with the null modem cable alone thanks to a couple of lads who transfered the files onto the image so thanks everyone for their help ...i know people are better off learning how to do it themselves but dont have one of these boxes or the router or cross cable but if i did i would do it all over to get it right for peace of mind but its done now .. cheers

did a manual scan on 150 but no new transponers found !! but when I checked my channel list the missing channels were there, some music & docs, some don't show any picture & when I check the streaming info all channel names & freq are there but the PID's are blank !! funny one,...any ideas ?

i have had a look at the software version on this unit and it reads..

^^^^ I have edited my post above. The Dbox will have a different IP and password compared to the DM. Just go to Menu - Setup - Expert Setup - Communication Setup on the DM and change the IP one above your PC's IP and same subnet.

    Username: root
    Password: dreambox

I set the IP addresses to the same, (edit) NOT THE EXACT SAME as the box. is the dreambox IP the one that comes up when you connect it to Dreamup ?

AGGGH!!! Have the IP thing now in menu etc.

Spent last night fluting about and eventually got it to flash, got the channels in etc. but just have to sort out the restarting the cam thing after powering off! So I am nearly there!! lol

Yeah, i got it flashed and have the hypercam thingy on it etc. , but just have to edit that file you mentioned in previous posts to stop have to execute the thingy everytime the box gets powered off.

Have the FTP connection up and going now, so will persevere for at least another night!!!

    Thanks again for the help!!!

Too impatient to read through everything carefully and assuming things are like i think they should be!!, took me ages to realise that I could not get dreamup working with the power going to the box!!!

So if that script already mentions hypercam, and not evocam, would that imply that the image was already done, and I spent ages trying to solve something that was not a problem in the first place??? lol
