I just installed DVD Shrink and attempted to copy High School Musical when I received the following error: "Failed to read file "H:\" (cyclic redundancy check)". Does anyone know of a
reason for this error, or better yet, a way around it?
    Respectfully, Photomate

You could try cleaning the disk and using AnyDvd.

More then likely this is a copy protection error which you will need to use a free application like RipIt4Me or DVDFab Decrypter or a pay program like AnyDVD(You can get a free trial at www.slysoft.com) to rip the new copy protection that are on DVDs.

DVD Shrink has not been updated in some time and is not current on the copy protection that are out now on DVDs.

Also do as kbuilt has said...

Clean the disc and make sure it is scratch free.

Below are some guides to help you out using free apps...
