I get the message below while trying to back up a DVD using DVDshrink and then when it goes to use Nero to burn I get the below error message.

    2. Uninstalled nero and reinstalled nero.

I have tried burning on the NEC ND-1100A, SAMSUNG DVD R/RW SH-W08A , and NEC ND-3550A. Also I know it says DMA is off, but I have checked Device manger and it says that DMA Ultra 33 is on for both drives.

    Hi Tmac23
You're ok on the DMA bit since it shows in device manager it shows on.
    Nero doesn't report nvidia correctly.

The video-allocation failure means somethings up with the files - a bad file or one missing etc.

Which movie are you doing? Ripping 1st w/ something like DVDFab Decrypter or running something like AnyDVD in the background?

Nero can use an update to the latest - 7.5.0.9a.
Probably won't help this error but quite a few fixes since the version you are using.

I am trying to back up Gridiron Gang. I do use AnyDVD. DVDshrink runs, and finshes ripping to the hard drive then when nero pulls up to burn to the dvd is when it gives me an error. I guess by looking at the error message it looks to be 'VTS_14_0.VOB' is the problem.

Ok this one has the latest Sony crap on it.

Using the latest AnyDVD - 6.1.0.7? If not update to that one.

Update Nero too - may make a diff actually now that I think about. Using AnyDVD and Recode the later versions of Nero haven't given me a problem w/ the Sony ARccOS/Puppetlock/bad sectors etc copy protection.
For this movie I used AnyDVD and CloneDVD.

Still fails - then rip w/ DVDFab Decrypter and open those files in Recode.

    Keep us posted

I decided to just use the trial verison of Clone DVD. What seems funny to me is that the DVD ripped to my hard drive but I couldnt get it to burn to a DVD with nero. I even tried to burn just the movie file and it wouldnt let me with nero, or DVDshrink. I just downloaded the trial verison of CloneDVD, so I am going to have to look into other ways of burning I guess. I think I might try it Ripit4me.

CloneDVD has some neat features - like will do movie and menu only, you can uncheck what you don't want and it will blank it out. Keeps compression low.

I use RipIt4Me too - good imho to have an arsenal at your disposal :)
Give RipIt4Me a go - here's a great step by step guide: link

I like CloneDVD, I just dont feel like spending money when I dont have too.

Downloaded Ripit4me and gave it a try, I think it is pretty self explanitory.

Binkie7 you have been a big help, as always, I know this is the second time you have helped me. Your very knowledgeable and kind, thank you for your time!

Yeah I can't blame you on the $ bit - especially when there are free programs.

You're welcome too - glad to be of help!
