Honestly Default gateway is BS, use the .0.2 first and then if failed try the 1.4 i dont know what yours would be due to the fact i know my xbox ip because pre flash i modified the .INI file..

go into your xbox's Hard drive and look for Evox.ini read it scroll down and see what it says under IP:.
^^Use the Xbox to do it via evox dash^^ (Just so i make it clearer)

Ok so your trying to wirelessly connect to the router then to the box, Dont think that will work. Ethernet ur laptop to ur router and try.

and use the IE method stated above.
Regular name and pass will be A) xbox/xbox B) root/xbox.

FINALLY got it to connect and transfer a file...THANKS so much for your time and help...any suggestions on setting up or placing video files?

Also I was not planning on having it connected to the router all the time, but how hard is it so share folders and have the xbox see it? You know so I can play files right off the shared folder?

    Thanks MIke

You can share and play, the easiest way to do it is to Establish an Internet Xplorer connection Via ur laptop directly to your Xbox (You will need a crossover cable id just get one for like £8 from your local Pc Repairs shop<May be Cheaper>)

To Establish the connection go to IE and Type FTP://USERNAME:pASS:IP

Once youve done that simply share all your Media folders from your Desktop Computer and then share them from your laptop -> Xbox, To do that you would have to sustain a constant Connection to your laptop but Wth it can sit directly next to it i guess.

Well generally i dont see why not....

Just called a bud of mine he says he tried a few Thousand times and hasnt suceeded honestly i dont know why i dont think 95% of Hacked/Custom Xbox Dashboards and bioses have the File Sharing capabilities therefore making it unable to recieve them also....

However i do know you can hook an external HDD to your box and it will work perfectly.

other than that id recommend installing Xbox Media Centre (XBMC).

    Link below is Installation Support

Ok the linking doesnt work just copy the URL into Browser

You'd still be able to FTP and such without signing into Xbox Live. As long as you don't access live with your modchip turned on, your safe. You can FTP, run apps emulators etc. without the need to sign into live.

Microsoft can detect that ur box is hacked/modded, Whenever your box connects to the net there is a component which transmits the box's status to M$, But A lot of modchips disable this when attached(solder or Solderless)to the motherboard.

everything from x2.6 -> in the xecuter range blocks it as far as i have heard.

The only the way the Xbox connects to the internet, is if you access Xbox Live (this includes auto-sign in when Xbox power in retail which ought to be disabled)

I run a softmod, and I can run my original MS dash or hacked dashboard whilst having an ethernet cable in and I won't have any problems and can FTP.

When I access the Xbox in it's retail state, I can then sign into live with the ethernet cable already in.

Hey guys, I've been trying for 2 hours, but I can't connect my modded x-box to either my laptop or desktop.

First I tried connecting directly from laptop to xbox through a cat5e cable, but I can't connect to ftp through either Core FTP or by using ftp through Internet Explorer.

Here is the info from my xbox:

    Network:
    Current IP: 192.168.1.3
    Enable: Yes
Type: Static (if I change this to DCHP, the IP shows up as 0.0.0.0)
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    DNS1: 0.0.0.0
    DNS2: 192.168.1.1

    SNTP:
Enable: No (Should this be yes?)

    FTP SERVER:
    Enable: Yes
    user: xbox
    password: xbox
    port: 2
    max no. of user: 2
    allow anonymous: yes

On the main xbox screen when I turn it on, it says:
    IP: 192.168.1.3
    Users: 0

When I try to login through ftp, the address I put under host/ip/url is 192.168.1.3

Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance for any help guys! I wanna put some emulators/roms on my xbox (after having it for like 6-7 years lol).

connecting direct.. lose the default gateway setting if there is one on the pc .. otherwise it works like any other pc/share setting.

what are your pc network settings?
