sc0user - I know I know ;-(... He would have no probs but he is away on client site (computer contract). BTW the inbound cable drives a VGN box perfect on every channel (I got his wife to swap the kit over)

Long way to go and flash a box :) Yep the VM box should be fine as said a reflash and factory reset with the latest firmware should do the trick.

If you still have problems when you get there, (hope you enjoy the flight :) ), just pop back in here, there is always someone here to help out.

sc0user - yep long flight and can't go for a couple of days anyway. I will take my 2008 box anyway to test out. I am trying to sort it out for when he gets back cos there is a big football game on the last Sat of this month. Here's hoping and thanx for all the info. Cheers

No bother, best of luck. Now if you said football in the first place I would understand why you would travel so far :)

BTW good idea bringing the Max V with you ;) Although you may need to do a factory reset and rescan on it at your son's house. As he may be on a different provider. Even if he is on the same provider his frequencies may differ.

sc0user - Yeah I am cool with the diff peoviders. He DOES have a diff one so I will make sure I reflash mine as soon as I get there. If I did find his box faulty I would have time to get a new one in time for our big game. He only gets back home the night before and the game is a lunch time kick off. BTW if it was a tuner issue is that as good as game over? and new box needed. Cheers

Haven't seen many tuners die on the 2007 model,(PSUs and capacitors mainly), so hopefully this isn't the case. Last tuner problem I seen on a 2007 model was just a dry joint. This was a simple fix with a resolder on the RF socket. As said it probably has the weakest tuner of all EVs so it may be just the case of adding a booster. I am like yourself and cannot fully diagnose the problem unless the box is in front of me, or you are in front of the box talking to me :)

First of all I will introduce myself.....I am an IDIOT

I followed some advice on a thread on here and have gone wrong somewhere....big time!
A few of my channels were showing 'no signal' so I did what I thought was right following advice. it involved scanning a frequency range manually eg 300mhz- 400mhz .... then all my channels went.

I have since rescan it using a power scan and now I get the message ' Service unknown' on all channels.
Anyone know how I can rectify this? ... Me ma has nothin to watch all night now and is probably going to kill me

note please if your remote control stopped working and you checked that there were no buttons stuck on it, change the batteries and make sure the batteries are on properly never never let the wife find out that you put them on wrong and went bought a new one. ffs my life been misery since yesterday don't want any one to go through what im going through.
