Have a 9 month old Red Box; just done a Factory Reset and flashed with 21.04.08 and Powerscan but still only able to get 5ky 5ports (which is perfect) All other channels incl Free 2 Air are there but picture unwathchable and sound breaking up. Reception perfect when connected to a VGN box. This is in Surrey and ex *C&W*. Anyone any ideas.

If you have any splitters inline take them out and run the box from the live feed, best as close to where it enters the house as possible and see if that makes any difference.

Your on the borderline of getting a picture and not with a 78% signal strength,

Best thing to do other than buying a signal booster is do a factory default and then a powerscan with the splitter out, for info on how to click on this

Hiteck - just doing the scans etc. I wondered how easy it was to buy a booster and can I get advice on that on the forum or is it a banned topic?

hiteck - that made no diff. Do reckon a signal booster would cure that? Do I just look for *cable signal boosters* ??

Cant think of anything else that could be causing your problem, I know with mine if my signal drops below 78-76% I loose the picture but it still finds the TPs when rescanning which is the same problem your having, your scaning on the correct symbol rate otherwise you wouldn't get any channels, make sure all your connections are tight and fitted correctly other than that I would say a booster is the only other option.

Is the signal steady or is it fluctuating ie 76 to 79 ect or just steady on 78?

You may need an attenuator to steady the signal or a booster to bring it away from 76% BUT before you go out and buy one I'm going to ask sc0users opinion as I wouldn't want you to buy something and it not make any difference, so keep checking back in and you will get an answer soon.
