I have a eurovox max and the picture keeps breaking. This started about 3 weeks ago. The frequency and quality are at between 81% to 85%. I am in galway and with NThell. Can anyone help?

your signal is to strong it should be around the 70 /75 % you need to reduce it get an attenuator on your cable that should do it

can any one help me?? I have had problems with lost channels on my eurovox max, kept getting No Signal message. I did a factory reset last night and a power scan and got them back and some.. this morning however I noticed that the Favourites wont work. Just keeps saying not currently available?? Do I need to flash again or has this happened to everyone?? It's not even going to favourites when i press the button on the remote and only had the remote a week.
    Thanks in advance

I keep coming across mention of Attenuators and Signal Boosters when people are discussing lost channels and signal being too weak/too strong.

Any of you guys know the best signal strength, and how to attain it?

What is an attenuator, and if needed where do you get one and how much etc.

I could look in Google and on Ebay, but we're all in the same boat here so rather hear it from someone who shares the same interest

The search bar here will find all you need regards attenuators and boosters and their uses.

Signal strength is different for each area dependent on headend, cab equipment, cabling, type of service, etc, etc,. So what may be regarded as low in some areas is high in others. Generally anything below 70% is too low and anything above 90% is too high. But again different boxes have different tuners so results will differ somewhat. A fluctuating signal, (SNR), is also a sign of an imbalanced signal.

    Hi

have searched missing channels, but every result is a problem slightly different in some way to mine, so apologies for starting another thread variation...

I'm on Ex C+W Vir*in in Leeds area
    Eurovox Max Clone

After a rescan to get some newly broadcasted channels (Watch, Alibi, etc) my Setanta Sports 2, Setanta Golf, and a few other crappy channels such as DMAX have totally disappeared. Setanta Sports 1 was 'flinching' between wide screen and normal and a couple of other channels were just glitching constantly. Have tried full, manual and auto rescans with the same results....

Has anyone else had this and if so is it just a service provider problem (everything else is fine)?

    thanks in advance

    H

P.S. I have copied this message from another thread because I got no answer to it there. Sorry for duplication, and also sorry for hijacking the multiple threads here...

    Hey guys.

I am new here though I have spent a lot of time browsing the forums over the last couple of days. I have checked all of the eurovox guides etc and I have also checked a lot of the forums in relation to this issue. My problem is in relation to a USB to RS232 adapter. I have a eurovox ex1000sl, and my rs232 cable is defo a null cable!.

My adapter is one of those HL ones. I have tried to install the driver that came with it though it did not work. It doesn't even appear in the device manager list. I have downloaded a couple of drivers from the net, namely the huge pine one and the ones from sinofan dot com forward slash driver. If I run these drivers from thee add hardware wizard I do get COM3 appear on the device manager tab but with a yellow exclamation mark highlighting a problem, and the ex1000sl software cannot pick it up. I run a laptop so the pci option is not available and i literally do not know anyone who has a pc with a rs232 socket.

I have included a screen dump here of what I get in device manager, though I suspect you may not be able to see it. The JPEG is located here if it does not load right.

delete the drivers you've downloaded and try the ones from here http://www.gilsson.com/usb_drivers_download.htm also if you no anyone with the same box, you can do a box to box software transfer.

Thanks for that Karl. Ive done as you said, but on the web page where it tells you to specify the driver in add hardware wizard, I do just that, but the list of hardware is blank and the 'next' box in unavailable to be pressed, its blanked out.

I have. but the driver is a dot inf driver which to my knowledge can only be used in the add hardware wizard. I tried doing just that and got the above problem. I checked that thread previously to no avail. I can eventually see the com port, but it has a yellow exclamation mark on it.

Always problems with usb to serial adapters,if you do a search through the forum via the search facility you will find numerous people tearing their hair out with problems, you will either ned to try another adapter or find a pc with a serial port.
