This has been solved by using a 6 Db attenuator or using a pre flash CDF after downloading the Kuro image.
Sorry I may not have been clear, When I said “normal” channels I was referring to the standard 14 un-encrypted channels watched by everyone in the estate. If I connect the co-ax to the TV instead of the box I can watch these channels and a good signal seems to be present. So when I move the co-ax back to the rf connector on the box I assumed it can pick up the digital signal as well as the analogue channels. Yes I am in a digital area, my next door neighbour is on the same cable and he has a “digital “ box on hire from the cable company. To answer your question, emulation in enabled but I notice EMM capture is disabled. Should I enable it?
Does your neighbour get all the Sports Channels? Is your estate MMDS, (Aerial on roofs)? I need to ascertain that you are in a true cable digital area as some areas of Wicklow are either analogue or MMDS. I can tell you exactly what you need to do for a true cable area but I need you to find out that your area is as I said fed by true cable. EMM is not required.
I spoke to the neighbour and he told me he is on cable, as is the rest of the estate. And the cable company installed a decoder box, but it only gives him Sky sports. He says there are no movie channels available and wont be until after Christmas when the cable company go “fully digital” When I enquired from the cable company if digital was available in our area I was told yes. It now seems that they are providing digital by getting their sister company to install an MMDS aerial and decoder box until the cable goes “digital” Looks like I have purchased the eurovox a bit too early. The only reason I bought it was my neighbours wife told me they had digital and it came from the cable and my cable company said they could give us digital. One other bit of info, spoke to an other neighbour who is in our estate. He got rid of the cable but he has the MMDS and he told me he got a “box” from the internet which decodes all the channels on the MMDS. Is this possible? Would my Eurovox work if I got an MMDS aerial?
Had a funny feeling your estate was set up that way. They are upgrading your area as you said but I cannot give you a timeline. The Eurovox will not work on Ch****, (I presume thats your provider)MMDS as it has a DVB-C tuner. Ch**** MMDS needs a DVB T tuner a Dreambox T or a new Starview Box T will work with Ch**** MMDS but you also need an aerial, downconvertor and power inserter. It will however work on N** MMDS as it utilises DVB-C.
You’re right my provider is CH****, mentioned in earlier reply somewhere. I am in Greystones, Wicklow. Will talk to neighbour who has MMDS and will find out if it is Ch**** or N**. It might be worth considering going down that road. Anyway if not I will wait till we go digital. Thanks for all the help and advice, will let you know how I get on
Thank you Sc0user for your help But I didn't need to try the 6db as when i put on the box the channels came up . I noticed the reception was 10 -15% higher this time than yesterday . Living And learning thats what its all about !
Yes there are but only put these on if you have a genuine box. Click the SV EV Info link at the end of my post to find out if you have a genuine or clone. I can then give you the firmware based upon your decision.
Hi guys, I'm from Nottingham. I tried this new update and put it on my Eurovox Max V. I did a new scan, but it only finds 27 channel groups, whereas it found 31 with the old software. So I am missing quit a few programmes such as Sky Sports Xtra, some Sky movies channels, some music channels, and Five life etc. So I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced anything like this, or if anyone had a solution and could advise me on what to do? Cheers
Well I had a similar Prob Basically you need to have the strongest possible signal and also the correct symbal rate Mine didnt work when i loaded the new prog but next day Signal strenght was excellent and it worked.
There is a new Beta release with an onboard booster and at last widescreen look here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/578790
Hey folks, i am having a problem with Eurovox2008 MAX model. Only been used for ~3weeks so has latest firmware installed. Not a clone! (I have my own box since July - this is my parents, so i am well used to a few errors ; ) Anyway, the channels were breaking up last few days, some were not coming in, tried a QUICKSCAN but no joy. Then when i went to try the channels that were not coming in properly it displayed a message "There is a fault in this system, please do not scan". So, i have access to a NULL cable and tried to re-flash it (Again, i have flashed a few before in my time and all successful) - it cannot recognise the box plugged in. ALSO, the display has since stopped functioning, it only has 2 green DOTS in the centre of the display. So, i have seena few posts on JTAGGING? Is this the same as Flashing? Is this box ruined and should i just send it back to the guy i purchased it from? Or anything i can try? thanks in advance for any advise.
Well if the box cant be located more than likely its dead . To be sure change the 232 lead and also check another box can be found so the com port on the PC is OK - I had one of these and Had to return it But i Discovered it right away before it went out. generally I believe this box is very reliable.
Hi, Takagi and sc0user. Cheers for the advice. I'm doing another scan at the moment, and hopefully I will get better results. But how do you nkow what correct symbol rates, because mine is a 6887 area, but I always did Full power scan. Does i make a difference? If not I will try the beta version. But I was wondering how big is the risk with the beta version and could it otally wreck the box if it went wrong? Cheers
No luck with the new scan. I don't understand it because i'm doign the exact same thing as I was doing with the old firmware, but it's just missing a load of channels.
