well i want to buy a graphics card but my motherboard says * 1 x AGP 4x, support 1.5v display card only * 5 x PCI slots (PCI 2.2 compliant) please tell me what this means and does it mean i cant get a agp x8? thanks
Yes many AGP 8x graphics cards are backwards compatible with 4x slots, but its best to check whether the AGP 8x card itself is 1.5V & 0.8V compatible, otherwise voltage incompatibilies may cause problems. A simple google search should get you what you need.
thanks but now i need to know if my motherboard would be able to handle Model: Nvidia Geforce 6800GT(Modded to Ultra) Interface Type: AGP 8x Memory: 256MB 256bit GDDR3 these are my motherboard specs Processor * Socket 478 Intel ® Pentium® 4 with HT Technology Chipset * Intel® 82845PE MCH * Intel® 82801DB ICH4 * Super I/O: ITE IT8712F * Realtek ALC650E/655 Audio AC'97 Codec * 2Mbit flash ROM Front Side Bus * 533 / 400 MHz FSB Memory * DDR 266 / 333 (PC2100 / 2700) 184 pin (2.5v) * 3 x DIMM slots * 2GB Internal I/O Connectors * 1 x CD / AUX in * 1 x FDD * 2 x UDMA ATA 100/66 Bus Master IDE * 2 x USB 2.0 (supports 4 ports) * 3 x cooling fan pin headers * SPDIF in/out (with rear bracket) Expansion Slots * 1 x AGP 4x, support 1.5v display card only * 5 x PCI slots (PCI 2.2 compliant) Rear Panel I/O * 1 x Game / Midi * 1 x LPT * 2 x COM * 2 x PS/2 (Keyboard/Mouse) * 2 x USB 2.0 * 3 x Audio jacks (Line-in/Line-out/MIC) CPU/AGP/DIMM setting * AGP Voltage / Clock adjustable via BIOS * CPU FSB / Multiplier / Vcore Voltage adjustable via BIOS * DIMM Voltage / Clock adjustable via BIOS Form Factor * ATX * 295mm x 200mm H/W Monitoring * H/W detect and report Power-in voltage, CPU voltage and Fan speed * System health status auto-detect and report by BIOS THANKS IN ADVACE
Here are the card requirements: System requirements: • Intel Pentium or AMD Athlon or compatible • 128MB of system memory • Mainboard with free AGP (4x/8x) slot • AGP Voltage 1,5V • CD-ROM drive for software installation • 400Watt or greater Power Supply As you can see it will be compatible with your motherboard.
Nvidia Geforce 6800GT is a good choice of card and will play games really well my son has one and he has 2gb of 333mhz memory in with a old gigabyte mobo and a p4 and it bangs out the games and movies no problem. You will be flying all the way.
sorry for this noob question but can my motherboard Processor * Socket 478 Intel ® Pentium® 4 with HT Technology Chipset * Intel® 82845PE MCH * Intel® 82801DB ICH4 * Super I/O: ITE IT8712F * Realtek ALC650E/655 Audio AC'97 Codec * 2Mbit flash ROM Front Side Bus * 533 / 400 MHz FSB Memory * DDR 266 / 333 (PC2100 / 2700) 184 pin (2.5v) * 3 x DIMM slots * 2GB Internal I/O Connectors * 1 x CD / AUX in * 1 x FDD * 2 x UDMA ATA 100/66 Bus Master IDE * 2 x USB 2.0 (supports 4 ports) * 3 x cooling fan pin headers * SPDIF in/out (with rear bracket) Expansion Slots * 1 x AGP 4x, support 1.5v display card only * 5 x PCI slots (PCI 2.2 compliant) Rear Panel I/O * 1 x Game / Midi * 1 x LPT * 2 x COM * 2 x PS/2 (Keyboard/Mouse) * 2 x USB 2.0 * 3 x Audio jacks (Line-in/Line-out/MIC) CPU/AGP/DIMM setting * AGP Voltage / Clock adjustable via BIOS * CPU FSB / Multiplier / Vcore Voltage adjustable via BIOS * DIMM Voltage / Clock adjustable via BIOS Form Factor * ATX * 295mm x 200mm H/W Monitoring * H/W detect and report Power-in voltage, CPU voltage and Fan speed * System health status auto-detect and report by BIOS handle this graphics card Interface: AGP GPU Clock Speed: 400 MHz Memory: 256 MB Memory Clock Speed: 1,000 MHz GPU Manufacturer: NVIDIA Condition: Used GPU Model: GeForce 6600 Connectors: Dual-DVI, TV-Out Brand: XFX
