ok.. i use to get fellows for free. that was such a long time ago though. I guess I will have to do that. what imeant i am not smart enought to tell you he he so we will move on from there. roxio has to go is the point ty Pete
Gretta, What you may try first is, turn off all Roxio programs in msconfig startuppage - See how you make out there - When doing DVD's keep Roxio off and in a corner - Cheers, Pete
Gretta, if you want a free program for jewel case inserts, there is one at http://www.coverxp.com . Also at http://jump.to/undercoverxp there is one that does jewel cases and movie case covers. They work for me.
Hey guys...I need some help. I am new at this DVD copying, I have been using DVD Xcopy Express and the program did very well at the beginning...the longer I used it the worse it got. Now I can't copy any DVD with the software. I have done everything that the techs from 321 have told me and nothing works. So, I want to try something else. I saw these 3 listed DVD Shrink, Imgtool and DVD Decrypter. I guess I need all 3 to copy a DVD, right? And I guess I use them in that order? Also, DVD Decrypter states you can't download the program if you live in the USA....so how do I get it? Gretta....forget DVD Xcopy,...it's a terrible program. You and I have both wasted our money!
Xcopy is not a terrible program, Many have used it with much success, there are other methods that will co-exist with programs tha t Xcopy wont. If I paid for a product I would want it to work. Other options are always nice.
If the program works it is a good program, but when it ceases to operate, then it becomes a bad program.Seems that 321 Studios has a lot of issue problems. Looks like a lot of people aren't able to run DVD XCopy successfully. If they do, I guess they have no reason to be on this forum. I just wish someone who could run it successfully would be able to tell me what to do. Do you have any suggestions? I keep reading all these forums and no one can seem to come up with a solution to the DVD XCopy problems. If you don't have solution to that, do you have any other alternatives? I have tried a combination of other programs, but they didn't work either.
Surfside, Do you know why Gretta hasn't posted anymore? Because Xcopy is working for her and I assisted her in achieving this. If you want the software to work, PM me and we can go from there.
No surfside, you don't use them in that order and you don't need all three - Checkout the guide at the bottom of this page http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/79846 Ooohh, I just re-read your post - The answer is yes, if you live in the USA it is illegal to download DVD Decrypter. You might want to "Google" for AnyDVD - that will help you out ) That would be because you're here and not on the DVD XCopy forum - http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/66 Try this for a start - From: "Tech Support"<techsupport@321studios.com> Sent: Friday, September 19,2003 4:41 AM Blacklist The following programs can cause problems while using our software. Your situation sounds like one of these are installed: 1. B's Clip: This Program has packet writing applications and also tries to control the burner. To remove you must go to Add or Remove Programs in your control panel. For more information, visit the B's website at http://www.bhacorp.com. 2. Direct CD or Drag to Disk: These are applications from Easy CD Creator from Roxio. To remove them you need to do to Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel. There you can select Easy CD Creator to change, not remove. Then you must click next until it gives you the option to modify. Then either Direct CD or Drag to Disk should be selected and changed to "make this option not available". Then click next and while the program may look like it is installing, it is removing those options. One thing to remember is that both Direct CD and Drag to Disk will not be installed at the same time. For more information, please visit Roxio's website at http://www.roxio.com/en/support.index.jhtml 3. GoBack: backup software that constantly runs in the background (Terminate and Stay Ready) this needs not only to be turned off, but disabled. Unfortunately, this means the customer will loose all their old restore points, but it will free up a lot of hard drive space. For more information visit Symantecís web site for GoBack at http://www.symantec.com/goback/index.html 4. HP DLA: DLA stands for Disk Letter Assignment and interferes with DVDXCopy or DVDXCopy Xpress accessing the dvd burner. After removing this in Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel, the computer should be rebooted. For more information, check the HP website at http://www.hp.com/ 5. InCD: This is packet writing software that comes bundled with Ahead Nero Burning Rom. This can sometimes be removed via Add or Remove Programs in control panel, but sometimes it converts to a TSR (Terminate and Stay Ready) and has to be removed from task manager. To open Task Manager, hit the ctrl, alt and delete keys at the same time, then click task manager Then InCD must be found under processes and ended there. For more information go to Neroís website at http://www.nero.com/en/ 6. Interactual Player and PC Friendly Player: These programs are DVD software viewers that can be installed off of the DVD movies themselves. Both programs interfere with all 321 Studios software and should be un-installed from Add or Remove programs in control panel when found. Then the 321 studios software needs to be un-install, the 321 studios file folder deleted, the computer rebooted, the 321 Studios software re-installed. For more information about both players, visit http://player.interactual.com/ 7. McAfee Anti-Virus: This is anti-virus software that when running, can cause errors. It needs to be disabled by right clicking on the icon in the lower right side of the task bar. The 321 Studios software then needs to be restarted. Then whenever the customer is attempting to burn, McAfee needs to be disabled. For more info go to McAfeeís website at http://us.mcafee.com/default.asp 8. Norton Anti-Virus: This is anti-virus software that when running, can cause errors. It needs to be disabled by right clicking on the icon in the lower right side of the task bar and the automatic update should be shut down via the Task Manager. The 321 Studios software then needs to be restarted. Then whenever the customer is attempting to burn, Norton Anti-Virus needs to be disabled. The Norton Website is http://www.symantec.com/ 9 . Veritas DLA: This program uses Disk Letter Assignment for backup purposes. Just the DLA portion needs to be removed, which cane be done in Add or Remove Programs in control panel. After removing the software the computer should be rebooted. The Veritas website is http://www.veritas.com/ Spyware - some programs can install other software that can be damaging to your Operating System. Please scan for these programs with a Spyware utility. We recommend Ad-Aware, available freely at www.lavasoftusa.com If you perform any of these changes, please make sure to fully uninstall your copy of our software delete the 321studios folder in the program files directory shut down and reboot twice and then reinstall our software. ASPI Update If you are using an internal dvd burner install Force ASPI from this link: ftp://supportfiles.321studios.com/ASPI/ForceASPI.exe After installing the ForceASPI file, then double click on the pink icon that it puts on your desktop , and follow the directions. It should make you restart if installed correctly. If you are having difficulties downloading make sure you have windows and other firewalls disabled. If that does not help, you probably need to go to the manufacturer's website, and update the drivers for your ROM drive. http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverindex.html Correct ForceASPI Install Did the ForceASPI file make you restart after installing it? If not then run the pink icon that should now be on your desktop. If you are using an external dvd burner connected via USB2 or Firewire install Force ASPI 2 from this link: ftp://supportfiles.321studios.com/ASPI/ForceASPI2.exe MsConfig Certain programs running in the background can use system resources and cause our software to experience burning issues. To disable your start up group go to start, run, and type in msconfig and hit enter, then click on the startup tab. Windows XP(Home & Pro): If you are running Windows XP you will click the disable all button. Windows Me: If you are running Windows Me disable all items that are not Windows system processes. Windows 98: If you are running Windows 98 disable all items except for Systray and Explorer. Windows 2000: Windows 2000 does not have this utility please make sure to close all programs through your system tray. Play the Movie Make sure that you shut off everything else that you can, including the screen saver, when you start the process. 1) Play the movie for 2-3 minutes. 2) Start up our software while the movie is still playing. 3) If you are using Dvd X Copy, go to the STREAM PROCESSING tab, and check the option to ENABLE STREAM PROCESSING. You will see a list of options, make sure that the first two options are checked and uncheck the rest. Proceed in ripping the DVD. *This option will not be available nor is it necessary in Express* 4) Choose the target folder that you want to rip into. 5) Click on the start button 6) Shut off the movie If none of this helps, you probably need to go to the manufacturer's website, and update the drivers for your ROM drive. Updates Windows Updates Every version of windows requires updates. To be sure your system is completely up to date go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com If you are using Windows XP please visit http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/sp1/default.asp to download service pack 1. Pete, I have previously done all the things you have listed as instructed from Tech Support back in March. The only thing I didn't do was the ASPI Update. Exactly what is this? I tried to copy/paste from the link you listed (ftp://supportfiles.321studios.com/ASPI/ForceASPI.exe and this page won't load.
Pete, Another questions. Previously, I had created a new folder to download the movies into called 321 Folder. I selected this as my default in the Xpress software. I have uninstalled and reinstalled XCopy Express a number of times, however, each time, the default still remains as the folder I created not the default folder that is installed in the software. How do I get the default this installed default back?
Surfside, The link you mentioned was put there by 321 Studios. Try this link for an ASPI layer - http://forceaspi18.w.interia.pl/ Then go about mid-way down the page and download ASPIchk to make sure you have installed your ASPI layer correctly - Pete
While I was employed at 321studios, we never suggested forceaspi, I've tried it though on my Intel platform XP pro machine and Platinum doesnt appear to care for it much. Symptoms are THE PROGRAM LOCKS into the rip process . I'd go to the adaptec site and use there aspi drivers. If you've run the forceaspi, open the folder and run killaspi before installing from the adpatec site. Here are the instrcutions and a link ot the adaptec site. Here is the link to the ASPI utility for WIN XP which also has the ASPI chk tool within it. http://adaptec.com/worldwide/suppor...em/Microsoft+Windows+XP&filekey=aspi_v471.exe Copy and paste these instructions to notepad and print them, since you'll have to reboot to complete the installation. In advance, I aplogize if my instructions seem elementary, not all are pc savvy. First click on the link above and download the file to the default location which will be the root of the local disk. Here is the path, depending on your drive letter, may be "c" or "d". If it is local disk d then replace the c with the d. C:\adaptec\aspi or D:\adaptec\aspi Now go to windows explorer, by right clicking the windows start button and left clicking explore. Look for the adaptec folder Double Click on the adaptec folder, and to the right, in the split window, you'll see the aspi folder, now double click it. Now you will see a multitude of files. Look for the "aspiinst" icon and double click it. Follow the instructions. DOnt worry that it doesn't mention anything about ASPI for WIN XP, its OK.. DONT WORRY it will work.. 4 SHO.. Once rebooted go back to the aspi folder and look for the "aspichk" icon, this is the ASPI check. Here are the instructions to get to the folder Double Click on the adaptec folder, you'll see the aspi folder, now double click it. At the bottom in very light letters you will either see ASPI is installed and fully operational, which is what you want or ASPI error or ASPI is not functional or.. you get the point. At any regard, you'll want the ASPI to be installed and fully operational. GOOD LUCK & hope this helps..... 321sucker
