My backup dvd's dont work in my new Toshiba hd-a20, my originals work. I backed my dvd's a while back because of the kids, but backups wont work, only the originals. Some are on Sony dvd+rDL & memorex dvd-r. I updated firmware to v1.6, latest version. I used CloneDVD & AnyDVD to back up my DVD's, they work on my sony upconverting dvd player without any problems. I actually download some music videos & burned them to DVD using NeoDVD & that works perfectly.
I don't have an A20 but my XA2 and A1 don't have problems with backups on TY +R or -R and Verbatim DL +R. There were some users who had the same problem on their A1's and we discussed these issues here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/383703 http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/378819 What worked with the A1 is pressing the eject button twice basically forcing the drive to re-read the disc. If that doesn't work then try using different media. Practically all experts at the media section here at AD don't recommend Memorex. I have no experience with the Sony DL's.
