I think there is a solution to getting the hdloader to start up without accessing the ps2menu.I think RunAmuck said he was working on a way to get HDadvance to boot up directly from it,since the hdloader on the exploit was very old he said.I think what you need to do is look at already compiled exploit that have been altered to boot directly without giving access to the ps2menu or ps2menu-k screen.

Thanks a lot L-Burna. I figured it out, or should I say some other chap did and I just sniffed it out. The prolem I was having was that the image of ExecFTP I was copying to the ps2 drive through winhiip was corrupt and needed to be fixed with cdmage. Fixed it and loaded it. I used FlashFXP to ftp to the ps2 and voila. Thanks for all the help. I am just glad I finally got it on there.

for all of us who are having problems burning the exploit cd (poor guy that got 20 coasters) i think i have a "no-burn" solution. i'm pretty sure i thought up a way to get the exploit to the mem card without having to burn a disc, and without needing flip tops, slide cards, swap magic, action replay, or any other swap disc. all you need is a retail hdloader disc.

but i cant make it work, if somebody who knows more about this could finish what i started i think we'd be on to something really big here.

the idea is this: make the iso for the exploit cd on the computer, then use winhiip or hdl_dump to get that image onto the ps2 hdd. once you put the hdd back into the console you should be able to use the retail hdloader disc to activate the exploit and install it to the mem card.

can somebody please see if this is possible? if it works then it would save the cost of swap discs and the frustration of coaster-burning.

Your method will work, you just need to make an iso for hdloader using cdgen and edit the system.cnf LBA to 12231.

Theres already an easier burn free solution.
If your fed up with coasters get [bold]Action Replay Max Evo[/bold].

It lets you use a pen drive to transfer exploits directly to the memory card. coasters are a thing of the past =)

thanks for the suggestion, i tried it out but unfortunately i got the same error i've been getting, "failed to load cdvd.irx". if you know of how i can get around this i'd appreciate it. also, when i open the title.db file in notepad i see at the bottom there's BRDATA which i changed to BADATA since i have a US ps2. should i go back to brdata or leave it as badata? and do i have to change the LBA to 12231 in both the system files or just one or the other? the other system file is in the FILES folder. my main problem though is really that cdvd.irx error, the rest i could eventually get through trial and error. thanx a lot.

okay i did a google search for "failed to load cdvd.irx" and i got 2 whole results. one was a dead link and the other was on page 6 or this very thread. i tried what you suggested to the other person, i moved cdvd.irx to the FILES folder and put it just above unrar.irx, sadly with no effect. i still get the same error. i edited my kl.dat so that all the elfs were assigned to a button, even the L3 and R3 buttons. i renamed ps2menu.elf to BOOT.ELF. i used titlemaker to get my title.db. all the files were put in the exact order you mentioned. but still i get the "failed to load cdvd.irx" error. do you have any other suggestions? keep in mind that i'm putting this exploit cd image right onto the hdd with winhiip.

That was IOP.IRX its a compleatly different file.

unrar.irx? what files are in your folder.

Heres the order and LBA of the files I have in cdgen.
Make sure yours is identicle to this:

    FILES(folder) @ 23
    SYSTEM.CNF(not edited) @ 24
    EXPINST.ELF @ 25
    CDVD.IRX @ 46
    TITLE.DB @ 62

thanks for the advice jonjak, i put those files in exactly the right order and made sure the lba numbers were identical. i still got the same error. i cant help but wonder if it's because of the way i'm doing it. i have no swap discs, just a retail hdloader cd. i also have no mod chip. so the only way i can get the exploit in the ps2 is to transfer the exploit image right to the hdd with winhiip, then use my hdloader cd to load that image from the hdd. do you think that this could be the source of my problems? what do i need to change to make it work this way?

also, i've heard that i can use hdloader to copy burned discs to the hard drive by switching the cd at the screen where you name the image. could i instead put in a cd-rw with the exploit at that time and access it? i prefer the winhiip method but i just keep getting that annoying "error: failed to load cdvd.irx". thanks in advance.

oh, i just remembered. the files i had been using and their order were from page 1 of this thread, and i had moved cdvd.irx as per the instructions on page 6 of this thread.

also, i have another question. when i use winhiip to transfer the exploit image to the ps2 hdd, what should it's ID be? the default is sces_666.66, mode 1,2,3 all off, and cd image as opposed to dvd image. should i change any of those settings? might that have something to do with it?

Freezes on line "LOAD" about half way through...

    ---Load iomaxnx, ps2dev9, ps2ip#

where the # sign is just a solid cursor block... My IP dat file is:

    192.168.1.102
    255.255.255.0
    192.168.1.0

works from cd just fine with same dat file...something is weird (though a few ppl on other forums have the same problem aswell...)

    Hi all,

I thought I would put up a list of games for hd advance that work and have been tested by me and I have included the mode settings also. I was not sure which thread to put this in so if there is a better one please let me know and I will post it there also.

How do I post it? Currently it is a Word Document with tables and cells for alignment purposes.

Ok what I did was create an RTF file and post it to the net. here is the link if you want to see what games work and which ones don't. I tested over 100 games.

    http://www.thebestproducts2u.com/runamuck/gamelist.rtf

just click the link then click open. It should take you to Word or WordPad.

Another question: How could I copy whatever that needs to be copy to the MC from the cd I burn with all that files in there?
