@lieblm - (ps Nero 7 won't make any difference here i don't think, as your burner is already sufficiently catered for in Nero 6..) - 4459MB is burning too close to outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences thus avoiding outer edge and not sacrificing much space - that's odd, the drive is saying it's got it's little mitts on an MCC03RG20 disc so the firmware must be happy with recognising the disc... ...however......it now says the disc is unknown... ...and it says not ready ...hence this message..... ...hmmm...

Im also having problems , actually iv had problems with dvd's since day 1 . so i have Nero 6 ultra edition . i used dvd-r discs and well here is my log file ... i dont know much on dvd drives also , i know it burns cd-r ok tho , sometimes it screws 7 cd's in a row tho , but then i just compress the files and it works ... Im having the same problem. First NeroInfo said there was no system ASPI, I did ASPI update, it said it was corrupted so i used ForceASPI and that seemed to do the trick in that department, but it didnt change the error. @dvdprob - - too old, update to latest 6.x version, 6.6.0.18 (Update-Package 1) from here - http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php - latest firmware, GD30, is here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1978 However also read here about horror stories with others with the same burner - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/179003 - yup, Nero is too old to recognise your drive, update to latest Nero 6.6.0.18 - 512MB is what i consider the minimum for dvd work. you should get more memory, and for now you're gonna have to dig deep to close down as much as you can to free up more memory - 4395MB is burning too close to outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences thus avoiding outer edge and not sacrificing much space - follow ALL suggestions those question marks are saying your ATAPI drivers aren't loaded correctly, try to fix via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

hi you may get away with useing PRINCO discs, but it could be you need to make the film smaller as its to close to outer edge, you need room to finalize too!
Okay, I have the illegal disc error also. I am using Memorex dvd's, but I have used these before.... I tried a different brand of dvd's and it worked. Hi there, Try to turn on DMA on all your drives. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking DMA.pdf Firmware v1.33 seems to be the latest for your drive, so your ok on that ! Uninstall InCD, it will cause you more problems that pleasure ! Start with that. If you are still having issues, try some other brands that those Ritek. When having burning issues, I always suggest using ReWritable medias, so you can erase them and try again !
I can burn to DVD +R's fine but get the illegal disc error when I try DVD-R's. Have tried Ridata and Verbatim with the same results. Using the latest BSOS firmware for SOHW-1633S. Appears that the DMA is enabled. Bad drive? Seems to be able to write to the DVD-R's fine when transfering data... just not burning an image or making a DVD with NeroVision. Should I try uninstalling Nero and reinstalling it? Thanks for the suggestions. After posting last night I found the latest firmware and installed that. I also installed imgburn and that had problems as well. The weird thing is that the +R's work fine. I find it hard to believe that both -R medias I have are bad? I bought Verbatim as I thought they were better quality. Have others had DVD burners that would burn +R's but not -R's? What else should I try? hi that is very wierd!!! go5 and liteon burners love each other i got the same 2 and use the go5 dye. where did you buy thoses dvdr's from? could be fakes?
bought them from newegg. So do you think the drive could be bad? Should I try cleaning it? In my ignorance I find it odd that +R's burn fine. I admit that if I really understood the differences that it might not be that odd. I hate buying a new burner when this one is around 13 months old. Looks like some of the newer lite-on's are about $42. Should I just go for it?
With thes img I think its not your media nor the burner. Seems to be something wrong in the image. Is the image of a vro recording or from one of those Camcorders that use dvd in them?
Thats good media also. So is the G05 though. Am I missing something here. Are you saying when the opperation failed as indicated you took out the -media and then put in a +media and it worked as indicated in the log at 9,54 you put in this Disc ID: RICOHJPN-R01-02 which is also good media on the +media side. You did not post the rest of the log after that disk was inserted. Did that disk complete?
