THIS is just my option,i would not have Deactivated jeanc1..i would of let it cool down.

i feel thats the wrong way to do it..i was asked a couple of times on the afterdawn/dvdxcopy site to Deactivate a said person...i would not do it..one or two of them are here posting.and helping out.

if a person ask to be Deactivated i would not do it,as they might have a change of heart.and start posting again..

as for gear,i would have left his account active...it took a lot of work to become a AfterDawn Addict now if he desides to come back he will have to start all over again as a newbie..

i would say keep ye finger off the button..if a person asked to be Deactivated..and let the admin deside what to do...

So the account can't be reactivated, you have to start from scratch?

that part is up to drd to answer,as i think he can not be brought back..

i think sometime in the past drd brought a person back..a mod can not bring a user back..

i still say keep ye finger off the ban button if asked to be removed.

I don't know her that well but she posted alot in the audio forums which is where I post alot too. It seems out of character for her to do what she did. Maybe she was going through a bad time in her personal life.

I agree with what ireland said. Instead of making someone inactive just leave the account open and if the user wants to post again then let them.

    I agree with Ireland.
ddp stop being so darned helpful all the time...
But they probably PMed her to confirm it or whatever, we don't know what goes on 'behind the scenes'.
If her temper is that bad she should go for a while, anyway (I did).
dRD doesn't want tech help if they cannot be nice to the n00bies.
There is no room for big egos in the forums, LoL ;^)

what ye posted we knew that..what is ye point?

if a person wants to leave, then leave..as he or she does not need our help to be removed just quit posting..or as having us to use the ban button..

I think it is a little unfair to voice out an opinion against the decision of the moderator, it makes the whole place feel, well, a little uneasy.

ddp and the rest of the moderators are given a job for a reason, and it is not anyone elses position to question.

Also, it isn't anyone's business. If Jeanc1 was having a bad day and has a change of heart & wants to explain herself to an Administrator, then that is fine, but it should be neither here nor there to the rest of us.

the mods are doing a great job and i'm not telling them how they should do their job. imo if a user wants their account made inactive then the best thing to do is to just leave it open so if the user wishes to come back at a later date then they can.

my comment was not against the decision of the moderator,it more or less against the person who wants to quit,if they want to quit, quit.
as do not drag a mod in to there problems..and if ye want a mod to close ye account,do it in a pm...not in a open thread..

ireland, my response was not aimed toward anyone, just in general.

but if seniors, addicts and other mods came into the DVDXcopy forums and (to an extent) undermined you, would you not feel slightly intimidated?

Jeanc1 may not have been thinking rationally when she was angry, so descretion is hardly a practise she was likely to adopt when throwing in the towel.

    [edit]
What difference would that make? We would still get the 'pick the bones' thread anyway, this one being an example.
