I hate Simples , so if I was to go down the road of public servers I'd (hypothetically) use a cloned modem and laugh.

Can anyone spell out what sections of what legislation might be used in Ireland to secure a successful prosecution under existing legislation for using a Kryptview 780 or similar apparatus to breakdown coded signals from a provider through a modem, without paying the provider for same? Also what are the stated penalties for a contravention of such legislation?

Satellite/Cable piracy I would assume. Usually a fine is the penalty as far as I'm aware.

very true e45. so they have all the data. easy as that. are you honestly thinking that you are smarter than a full department of techie dudes who are paid to identify illegal activities and have all the tools to do just that. that would seem to be a very enthusiastic attitude. but all to themselves. what concerns me is that 9 out of 10 users will be unable to setup the necessary measures to deliver security to their system. easy pickings for the tv provider.

get a grip they have to get the server first and how are they going to get that ?? oh i forgot you know it all so you tell us how they are going to get it ?? magic trick i suppose.

When was the last time a sole person actually any person from a house NOW not a person hosting servers in their house have got raided NONE there has not been one incident documented anywhere where a householder has been fined cut off brought to court even for downloading movies songs doing c/s on sat so what is the difference with cable.

Any way thought you where going to another forum as you said but ya still here telling people what is going to happen to them when you have not got one shred of eveidence to back it up its all hear say from you

You should let people make their own minds up after all as you can see from all your posts there is not one person either listening to you or siding with you c/s has been around for years and years and its not going to stop and there is no way of stopping it either well not to my knowledge.

This is the last time im going to reply to your silly statments without you showing me and conclusive proof that anything has been done to any house holder who was doing c/s only nothing to do with providers goods

Glad to see we are now getting down to brass tacks.

I do not know off hand myself what existing legislation in Ireland might be effective in getting successful convictions or the liklehood of any such legislation in the immediate future. I am not saying that none exists!

I would caution that the way a lot of legislation is going that it might be thought expedient that the burden of proof be reversed and that it would be up to the person sommonsed to show that he or she was innocent. However it might be considered by the legislators that such leglislation would be frought with constitutional difficulities!

I would point out that successful legislation exists for tapping in to cable tv without paying for same.

    Any comments?

well this kinda sums up the sv6 ireland scam from another forum:

Just to follow up. Word is the server was raided on Friday 18th by the law in Dublin. It seems wizard-satellite was the prime mover behind it. Getting some idiot in Dublin to buy all the gear and operate it from his brothers home. No VPN or tunnel, right in UPCs back garden! Apparently UPC/police seized the equip and put the server BACK online. Probably to get the IPs of anyone connecting. LOL.

Talk about galacticly stupid. I've had dealings with wizard-satellite before. I used my new credit card to buy some stuff. A few weeks later my bank contact me saying all sorts of crazy stuff is going on it around the globe. The card never left my house and was used just once, with them. Stay away.

Thankfully as you comment we are perfectly safe with the new kv system. thanks e45

of course there is this mention from a different forum

STARVIEW over in ireland. upc and police raided the premises of a starview distributor in dublin who had the cardshare server at his house on behalf of wizard satellite. the police and upc in a joint sting raided the premises & arrested several people & the cardshare server was taken also.

for those of you who want to give martin your business please go ahead and do so, he only has close links with wizard satellite. wizard satellite is the next for a raid in the uk, info comes from a good source.

I SUGGEST ANYONE THAT HAS THESE BOXES GET THEM OFF THERE NET NOW

So the evidence does look kinda obvious. You play with SV6 or KV you play with fire. Enjoy

More crap been spoken everyone knows about what happend in dublin and if you keep things in your own house and not where it should be out in a forign country and sell boxes from the same house talk about eggs in one basket, nobody to blame only them selves and still nobody proscuted either nobody house knocked on nobody cut off their cable what does that say they had all they needed and done nothing.

And SV should never have been in the first place as they say you pay monkeys ya get peanuts greed and $$$$$$ took over instead of protecting the people involved

Yep you are quite right they are perfectly safe as thankfully Kryptview are not as stupid and are not consumed by money or greed and dont keep servers in peoples houses, or put people at risk.

well e45, just to quote yourself, it does not seem that every country has a police force 'emphasise is on most not all :)'. what a quote. i would suggest that the arm of the law is far-reaching and that ALL countries have a legal enforcement policy. however i would be interested in knowing the country and address of the kv share just to confirm my viewpoint :)
