Update, go here to get the latest drivers from Motorola, you'll have to register with the site, but worth it, now the phone will connect with MPT. Unfortunately the latest version does not offer multimedia studio capability, but let me work on it. Unable to edit previous post 'cuz now I'm back on windose and before I was on Mandriva.
Have downgraded to 4.5.1 MPT and the phone still won't connect properly, will see what else I can think of..

Solution found, use any of the ringtone creating software found out on the net, make your ringtone, then use P2Kommander to transfer the ringtones into your phone, (You may have to use another program RSDlite to get the phone to connect via P2Kommander)they can be found at a:brew/mod/my_ringers. Transfer the ringtones into that directory and you'll be all set.
http://www.themotoguide.com/ Here is some good reading, not sure how much applies to the 755 though.
    and another one

Here is a better tutorial to make a ringtone, then use my method to get it into your phone. The wife has been driving me nuts getting hers to act like her old Razor V3C phone. Almost there, but not quite.
Motorola Phone Tools will allow you to back up and restore your contact information from your old phone to your new phone with ease. Unfortunately the newer version 5.0 doesn't allow you to transfer over pictures and ringtones like version 4.5 and earlier.

A free program called Audacity works great. I've loaded the wife's phone up with ringtones and now she is happy again, (for a while at least)
Here is a good guide to finding and downloading the program and required plugin.
    Guide.

I then transferred the tones to the phone via P2Kommander and a USB cord.
    I hope that this helps.

You can not access multimedia directly on Verizon phones, they lock it out. There best way. to get ringtones or pictures to your W755. Go to FunForMobile.com, you can use their free ringtones, or using their tools go to your own computer for ring tones you own or have made. They then send the ringtone your computeras an attachment to that message. When you get it open it then use options to save it and use it on your cell as you choose. The other method is to use a mail account not on your computer like Outlook, use Gmail or a Yahoo mail account. Open a message and include the ringtone you want send as an attachment. Send it to yourcellphone@vzwpix.cm like the following(7813456758@vxwpix.com). But you must first go to www.vzwpix.com and open an account with your Verizon cell phone number. It will send the ringtone as a message as above, just follow the same procedure to open the message. Hope this solves your problem.
