    ok..

first off... dont do all caps.. against forum rules..

    few questions..

what verstion of toast are you using? i'm guessing toast 7, since it compresses.

how big is the video_ts folder?

did you do full disc out of MTR? or did you do just the main feature?

you may want to do full disc.. then select main movie in toast 7..

    thanks for asking...
    yes its toast 7,
i have done full disk extraction(regular&arcos) as well as main feature.
your suggestion about full disk first would not be an option as TT stops the process
with the 'cannot compress' window. the ts file is 6gigs (main feature) and 7.8(full disk)
which i also dont understand. if a dvd is less than 5 gigs how is it that the ts files are so large?

    PS
last night i used mpeg streamclip to change the ts folder. although it took all night, i did end up with the movei in mpg4 this morning. i am now using TT to make a divx disc and it seems to be encoding alright. thing is i dont know what i am going to end up with............

ok.. we got some mix ups here...

the full disc extraction folder is the one for 7.8..

does this dvd have more than one feature on it?

is this a burned dvd or a retail dvd? if it is a retail dvd... it could be that big... since you are burning to dvd.. and are using regular breaks. these are 4.7gbs.. that's why you need the compression..

you have converted to mpeg4? how big is that? and if its too big.. and once it converts it.. it will be too big for the dvd.

your best bet if to use the video ts.. or do the full disc. let it compress that and burn..

    do you have dvd2onex?

    first off..thanks again!
yes it's a retail dvd & yes 7.8 is the full disc extraction.
yes its one feature with 'extras' the mpeg4 is 1.33gigs and has a duration of 2hrs 10 min
so its not too big and it is still encoding..started 5 hrs ago. as far as i can tell i will have a divx disc that may or may not be playable in a dvd player. right?

"your best bet if to use the video ts.. or do the full disc. let it compress that and burn.."

this i dont understand. i assume "it" refers to TT? it wont accept the ts file. thats the problem!
the message is this ts file cannot be compressed. are you suggesting i use DVD2ONEX( which i dont have) to compress the ts folder before i use TT?
im just wondering if this particular dvd is encrypted in some new way and that is the problem.
again, thanks for taking the time........

did you try the arccos mode in MTR?

    that might help..

with dvd2onex i was going to suggest to split up the main feature. but you have toast 7.. try to do the arccos rip.. and then see if toast will do that..

your other option may be to see if the disc itself is a bad disc. it may not be pressed correctly. did you have any issues with other dvds before? is it only on this one?

PS i have noticed one thing more.
in the past after the extraction i always had two folders. one audio ts and one video.
i found that strange but since i was getting the results i wanted i just let it go.
with the extraction i tried today i am only getting video ts....the audio ts isn't there.
do you think that may be a clue as to what the problem is?
