This is my problem. I burn four or five DVDs ok, but, the next DVD give me a pma update failure. I change the dvd, and burn it ok. Five or four, or six dvds ok, and the next, crash, the error again. I read a similar thread on this forum. He update the DVD shrink version and ok, but i have the last version of shrink.
Important.... The problem began when i clened my pc, and reinstall all again, when i format my disc.

Sorry about my poor english, i wish you understand me, and help me.
    This is the log.

OK then, you need to turn on your DMA for a start. Burn at 4x maximum. It also says medium error. That means that your burner does not like your media. Try Verbatim, Ritek or TY discs.
Also, modify size of disc to be burnt to 4300MB, not 4438 (or whatever it is!)

Go into your BIOS and make sure all your DMA settings are on AUTO

@diegote44 - in addition to the other guys' replies -

    - slightly newer firmware version here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1973

    - sort out DMA as requested by other guys

    - you're burning virtually to outer edge of discs, if you use DVD Shrink, set the target size to 4300MB in preferences, therefore avoiding edge of disc and not sacrificing much space

    - hmmm...

    - your burner doesn't recognise/like that disc

    - symptom of other problems

    - oops!

    - whoa!, slow it down to say 4x

    - not heard of those IDE drivers before, they sound too old

HI diegote44 ,, i had the same problem with my lg 4163b ..actually it has nothing to do with DMA , fast seep or media type ..
it doesn't happen with +R disks
I think this is hardware problem witch would not effect +R
discs becouse LG 4163 b uses deffrent writing methods for +R(Sequential Recording) and -R(Incremental Recording) discs.

it stats happening after burning few(over 150 discs in my case) DVD-R Discs with nero or dvd shrink (shrink uses nero to burn anyway).
And it only happens when you burn book type dvds. Book type dvds includes "dvd movies without menu" (it does't matter weather you have book type option checked or not checked in DVD shrink backup options) or data DVD in nero .you can still burn -R discs with shrink if you are including menus and the book type option is not ckecked.. Or you can use some orther sw like "Copy to DVD" or "DVD Clone" for your rest of -R DVDs .And make sure next time you buy + R discs.

@loop7 - erm, thanks for that, 'fraid i couldn't understand most of it. glad you found a solution for YOU, however the logfiles don't lie, so until we fix ALL problems within a logfile the person in quetion will still have problems.. maybe you could edit your post as am afraid it doesn't make sense...
