    Oooh, I like the look of your PIEs! :p

    Where'd you find the MIJ Maxell printables? Are they a recent purchase or off your stockpile?

    A walmart! Did he just "hook" them off the shelf or did he have to "slice" thru the blue vests to find them? ;P

    Careful greensman, someone will take a niblick to you! LOL |:)

    Good scans to both of you, though I prefer cincyrobs. I'd much rather have the lower PIFs over the lower PIEs.

    Hi ;-)
    Unfortunately you cannot really compare these scans.
    As different scanning speeds are used.
    This alone favours cincyrob, in terms of figures.
    As this gives the drive more time to deal with PIE. Which in turn should give lower PIF.
    Although 4x scan is not 'cheating'.
    In fact I still believe that this the correct speed for Lite-Ons.
    8x should only be used with BenQs.They can cope. :)

    BTW they are all good scans.

    Thanks zebadee for the info. Learning as we go. :) So you would recommend scanning on a Lite-on at 4X then?? I'm so impatient that I want it done yesterday. LOL. I'm sure that you understand that. :D

    I've been reading at our "other" forum and I have so much to catch up on. Loads of info about so many drives and different media. :O

    I've started another thread on media here at AD. (and drives too really) Trying to get a catch all media thread besides just the TY thread. I think the TY thread is an essential thread but I hate posting stuff there about Verbs and other manufacturers. :) link Yep shameless plug!!! LOL.

    I have some other scans to post as well as some more burns to do. NO time on my end of the puter. LOL. Work (yep 4 letter word) is kicking my booty and the kiddies are driving me insane, like I had that far to go. :)

    Sorry bit off topic rob.....I'll do better next time. :)

    Hi ;-)
    GM, the only reason I can see for scanninig @ 8x. Is because you can.
    OK it is faster & therefore easier.
    But if you want to scan with any resembalance of Quality to it. Then 4x is still the way.
    With BenQ you can go one better ...... 4xCLV.
    But for most users & I guess most of the time 8x is OK. Just that if you want to compare. Then try & have as level ground as is possible.

    Edit : - In truth scanning with domestic drives is pretty rough at the best of times. But it is relative of course.

    I'm back from a trip to WallyWorld where I picked up some maxell 8x MIJ printables. As a matter of fact, all their maxell printables, both +R & -R, were MIJ. Not cheap tho, could have gotten TYs cheaper but I haven't tried this media before, so I said, WTH!

    Did a little comparison on scanning speeds too!

    8x +R Maxell printable baked to a delicate crunch @ 12x, scanned @ 4x on Lite-On LH-20A1S:

    Same disk, scanned @ 8x:

    These are sweet discs too(thanx for mentioning them cincyrob!).

    That's a loaded question I know it. ;P They look pretty danged good to me. :D You gonna add some more later?? hehehe.

    Got a couple meself.

    All scanned with Lite-on LH-18A1P @ 8X unless indicated otherwise

    wh MCC 004 Pioneer QS 93 8X burn

    mtr MCC 004 LG QS 93 8X burn

    big MCC 004 Sammy QS 93 12X burn 4X scan

    big MCC 004 LG QS 93 12X burn 4X scan

    Here's the kicker...

    Scans 1 and 2 are "Prodisc" MCC 004's and the 3rd and 4th scans are of "CMC" MCC 004's. I like the LOW PIE's of the "Prodisc" but the lower PIF's are winning me over. :)

    @greensman

    recheck those CMC MAGs in 3-4 weeks. I used some Memorex CMC MAGS about 4-5 weeks ago, rechecked 1 the other day and PIEs & PIFs have shot up. Got a quality score of 70. I don't keep initial burns unless I get at least a 90.

    @hobbit,
    I should have explained a little better. :) Verbatim outsources some of there line of discs as you well know. :) The CD-R line is outsourced sometimes to CMC MAG which shouldn't surprise anyone. BUT they (Verbatim) also outsource to Prodisc and CMC MAG for their MCC 004 line of DVD+R discs. I think it goes further than that but I can't recall and I'm having a bit of trouble finding the link (webpage) that indicated these claims. :)

    ....gm

    edit: Finally found it. :) here's the link..it has a couple more links to other pages but there they are...... ;D

    @greensman,

    Yeah, I knew that. I guess I slipped a cog and thought you had burnt some Verbs that coded out as CMC MAGs(not the MCCs).

    So much for the short-term memory! :p

    I had some Printable Memorex CMC MAGs where I got some good burns a month or so ago. As I said above, I did a recheck of one and the quality had degraded to a 70, played another that had some slight issues at the menu.

    I will be tracking those down and rechecking all (thank goodness it was only i cake box) and probably reburning.
