    AND NO... I don't normally burn at that speed!!! TESTING some different drives and f/w along with some "quality" media.... hehehe. :p

    8X and 12X seem to produce some very good results. ;)

    IBG = Imgburn Graphs....Help/Imgburn Graph Data.

    That will give the same info as CDSpeed create disc and show the CPU usage etc. while the burn was in progress. :)

    Did some reading and then had to do some playing..... :D

    This is ugly, but boy, was it fun!

    I attempted to burn an 8x MBI (MID RicohJpn D01) @ 16x with ImgBurn.

    Here is a screen capture of ImgBurn mid-burn showing a 15.1x burn speed. The highest I saw was 15.3x.

    Here is the finalizing screen of ImgBurn showing an elapsed time of 10:34. The burn process was done around 8:20. Finalizing took about 2 minutes.

    Here is the CD/DVD Speed scan of a MBI 8x DL burned @ 16x with ImgBurn. It's double-ugly and I limited the max's to show more detail of the smaller peaks. It was interesting that when I started DiscSpeed there was no mark for the layer break.

    The disc is actually playing right now, but not without issues. Waiting to see what happens when it hits the layer break! :O

    The disc actually played fine, nary a hop, skip or freeze during the movie. I'll have to check and see where the layer break landed.

    The issues the disc did have was that it wouldn't play in my toshiba hd at all, but it would play in my pioneer player. I could not get to any menus either, the movie would just start and at the end it would just stop.

    @Zo,

    I'm sure your new quad will blow us all away.

    @hobbit,

    Is the Toshiba HD notoriously picky with backups?

    @LOCO,

    Not really. Other than the above disc, the tosh has refused to play 1 other backup. I have a Sharp Blu-Ray also and the Sharp is much more picky. It has refused so many that I don't even try it with backups anymore. The tosh also has a better decoder chip in it than the sharp too so it has better color, depth, and black levels too.

    I have the A30, it is/was the cheapest one with 1080p. I'd love to get a XA2 but they are still pricy.

    The hd dvd movies are also cheaper than blu-ray.

    Funny thing, the 1 backup disc that the tosh wouldn't play the sharp did.
