    hi guys
I HAVE A PROBLEM. I flashed a friends box for them got as far as putting the 742 on and got some message half way through about updating the stb clicked continue and now all i have is a box with red light stuck on, I can;t set up comm to transfer again. Any ideas. I did my mothers box and all went fine so i can't figure out what the problem is with this one.
    thanks

Well hello there stranger.... Good to see you're still about Debi.

This is probably the result of removing the cable before the flash has fully completed. That's why we always emphysize that you wait for at least another minute after you see the fast blinking green to red light.

    Anyway Debi, try this.

Connect the null modem lead to the box and your PC.
Click on the stblink5.20.zip file and choose run.
Do not do choose the setup comm.
And ignore any errors you see.
    Remember UNTICK maintain user data.
    Select upgrade software
Get the 742a file from your PC.
From when you see the blocks start to transfer.
It takes 4 mins for the box to be updated.
But make sure you see the led flashing much more quickly than it did when the blocks were transferring. If you leave for even 5 mins it will be OK.
Wait until all the blocks are transferred and WAIT a couple of more minutes for the led to flash much more rapidly than it did when you could visibly see when the blocks were transferring.
Unplug everything and only connect the power lead.
Wait for the led to flash red/green and then stay on green.

See if that gets you going & then flash again with the 910.

    HI GMAN
Sorry i've been up to my eyes with the eurovoxs and my mind is gone blank from doing all these boxes. So anyway i managed to get the 742a on but couldn't set up comm to do the 910 so did the same as the method for the 742a and now its stuck on connecting but nothing is happening. After i reconnected the box after transferring the 742 i got a green light then it went to red again and i managed to switch it back on with the remote. All i have on the box is a continuous green light and connecting but as i said nothings happening. my mind is muddled with eurovox and replay instructions that i just can't think straight to sort it out and have lost all patience searching forums to find the answer. thanks for your help. Do you reckon i should disconnect the box even though it says connecting.

Got the lead in Peats (€9.99) and have now updated the box. The instructions here are brilliant - everything now perfect! Thanks to everyone for the help especially Brian and Gman - you guys are just awesome...

EXIT STB LINK AND THEN UNPLUG THE BOX AND NULL MODEM LEAD.
POWER UP THE BOX AGAIN. THE LED WILL FLASH RED/GREEN.
WAIT UNTIL THE LED STAYS ON GREEN.
THEN RECONNECT NULL MODEM LEAD AND UPGRADE WITH 910
