I have been trying copy a dvd by ripping it with dvd decrypter but when I go to "open file" on dvd shrink i cannot locate the file where it should be. Is there anything else I should be doing ?
You would have told DVD decrypter where to put the ripped files so you should be able to go where it is with no problems. Do you have a special place were you put your ripped movie files? I do so that I know exactly where to find them.
DVD Shrink is not a burning program. DVD Shrink does exactly what the name suggests. It will encode and shrink a dvd so you can burn it with your burning program. ie: DVD Decrypter. I would suggest you use this guide. It's the 12th post down by Scuba Pete. If you have any questions from there. Come back and repost. We'll be more than happy to help. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/74599
I read Melben's problem as he used DVD Decrypter to rip the movie first and then wanted to use DVD Shrink to compress it or re-author it and then go on and burn it with the burning program of his choice. I'm sure he would know that DVD Shrink is not a burning program. Maybe I was wrong.
If melben is using Decrypter in [bold]ISO Mode[/bold] to rip then in Shrink he will need to click[bold]File >Open Disc Image[/bold] then he can locate the ISO file. The open files button works with movies ripped in the File mode with Decrypter. It is best to create a folder for your work so you know what to look for!
Thats for your input everybody, I know where I am saving my file so it is not a problem of not being able to find it, it is just that when I click open file on DVD Shrink the file I have just ripped with decrypter doesnt appear to exist. Any ideas ??
I think i have that one sorted now, and the last message ment to say thanks for your input. The problem now is that I am ripping a DVD with Decrypter and then using Shrink to compress it but when I go to burn it the dvd is just coming up with CP flashing in and out. Any ideas for this one??
Sounds like we're getting some user error here. http://www.dvdshrink.info has some good virtual guides that will lead you through the Shrink and Decryptor usage. These are good quick start guides. More comprehensive ones can be found at http://www.doom9.org and here at AD. Mr Bass has a guide as well and goes over some aspects of v3.2 not included in the earlier guides. http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/ Go over the guides closely and you'll probably see what's going wrong.
