Sony DRU-510a wont read any disks

One day it just stopped reading discs. No music, software or dvd's. The Orange light goes on like it is trying to read but it does not sound like it is spinning. I tried sony's drive check and it never finds any media. Their support is great (yeah right) I have had it less than a year, registered it the day I bought it, sent in the rebate, but they will NOT honor the warranty unless I can provide them with a copy of the reciept from a year ago. (I paid cash so no credit card receipt either) Basically they said it would cost me $140 plus shipping for them to fix it. Can anyone helpme figure out why it wont read any discs, and how to fix it? (I have upgraded the firmware=no luck, Also tried it in another PC=no luck.) I appreciate the help if you can...

 

Because you weren't smart enough to keep your reciept is no reason to post your question twice on our forum.

Scuba, get a life. Rules are what they are. I know I lost the receipt but I can see from your answer that you must be a great help to this forum and those whom use it.
