Not a problem, but it is best practice to keep the subbed box in and on standby, not eco friendly I suppose!!! ;)

rarz, Have you installed the drivers from the link that Des gave you?
Once you install the drivers you should be up & running.

Have tried that but it is saying wizard cant find any new hardware,if
i do it from the drop down list what would the hardware be listed as? I am thinking that i may have a faulty null lead so have ordered another one, will try that if it doesnt work then i think i will have to give the box over to somone to fix it as they will know what they are doing,is there anyone on here within 20 miles of Coventry who would be willing to fix this for me while i watch what you are doing, there would be a bottle in it for you for christmas.

    Hello rarz

I had lots of grief like this when I tried to do one. I have a really old pentium2 333mhz laptop with a "real" Com1 port on it (USB was very new when this laptop was made) anyhow I couldn't get any sort of download going using this lappy, tried two different leads, even tried a proper "straight" one, still no good.

In desperation, I disconnected and took the box across the room the the main PC in the house, put the file onto a USB memory stick, plugged it in and with just the lead in the mains it worked a treat, firmware went straight in. The old laptop just didn't want to play ball.

So my suggestion is either try another computer or take your box to a friends house with the firmware on memory stick and see if you can update with their PC.

    Good luck.

Hi all i got a new null cable and tried to flash the firmware for the box super again but it still keeps on saying flash update failed so can i ask some questions please before i get really pi**ed off with all this and i just give up on it all( bearing in mind that computer literacy is not one of my strongest points)
in the device manager on the com port button does that com port # have to match the com port # in the dowload box of the firmware ? if this is correct then this is what i have tried umpteen times from com 1 to 4 and it still wont work.
Drivers,i really dont understand what these are or what they do, could some kind person on here explain to a fool if this is causing me a problem when trying to download the firmware,i know earlier in the thread someone said update/download drivers, but i dont know how to do it,i really am at my wits end now with all this so any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
