    Hi DesB you're lurking again!

Matty I'm going to give you a solution that may work, it is up to you.
If you wish send me a PM(click on the head on my last post) with your email and I'll send you details of how I can use your computer from here to do it for you.

Please realise that if you agree for me to do it then I will (but won't) be able to access all of your PC

    don't mean to overtake @pippincp

Try sly two if it's the latest firmware.

Thanks for the offer, Pip...but it's a laptop from work so can't go down that route.

I have COM2 in serial port window of GTROM V4...this matches the Hardware Device Manager number. Tried to download again a few times but still won't get past 0% and flash failing window appearing after about 20 secs.

I know I've been bugging you for the last few hours...is there anything else I can do before I give up!

if it's definately a null modem cable you're using try changing the port to 1 or 4

did you install the driver that enables the cable to work on your laptop?

Matty sorry for butting in , apologies Pip.. just having a laugh earlier!!!

Matty I have just had a look through your posts it seems your not sure which box it is you have as you mention S/V 1.. S/V 2 The BOX and theres even mention of the S/V 3 Super, So if you flashed it with the wrong firmware, and its showing flashin lines on the box then yes it whats called a BAD FLASH please read here for a solution:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/531363
    Its the 3rd post down

Matty is it possible for you to take the box over to a mates house who has a stand alone PC with windows XP and get one of the cables here:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/674371

its a straight NULL MODEM cable and forget about the Com POrts and usb cables etc
Try this and at least we can eliminate this if it doesnt sort the box for you!!!

No problem DesB! All help appreciated.

It is a SV 1 genuine that I have...and yes it was flashed with wrong firmware. Think the option of taking it to a mates house is best. Will try this over weekend and report back.

Thanks to all and glad I provided some entertainment!!

    Matty

Hello Des, and good evening, it is a Starview 1 matty has got, he just does not know what his mate flashed it with, that's why he has mentioned both The Box and The Box Super. And yep matty, it is your best bet to eliminate the USB Adaptor first as Des has suggested, sorry I had to leave, but needs must I'm afraid. Also try a straight flash onto the box with an earlier version of Firmware, one that no longer updates, this sometimes works, if you are successful then you can flash as normal later.
