LOL! That kind of goes without saying. Just seeing that the FX chipsets, allow for dual 16X lanes is impressive. I imagine that two GPU's running at 8X each, will be able to surpass one GPU running at 16X. Otherwise, what's the point LOL!

Curious. I can't seem to find the following cable on newegg. And yet they exist. I sure would hate to go with 2 adapters, and one cable...

 

nop just 1366, and even then, only extreme edition, so about $1k.


and oman i would prefer an SSD over a new gpu/cpu/mobo aswell, i think they make a LOT more difference over the other, and tbh with CPUs, with every day use i dont notice much difference either. BUT i am just waiting for the prices to come down. if i can pick up a 120GB-160GB drive for £200 i would be happy going for it, but they are about £350, which is just enough for my wanted build of LGA1156 new case and watercooler.

I think you are looking for something like this, only the RCA adapter needs two cables to work the same way, as the adapter has Female RCA connections. It's for hooking up the sound to non HDMI amplifiers. That's my best guess from what I got out of the specs, anyway!

This card will match a 9800GT for less price and stomps all over a lot of current mid range cards. Not to mention it demolishes anything remotely in the same price bracket on newegg.

 

Ive searched a few times now and only thing in can find out is about the warehouse in Cali and jersey. nothing about Memphis.even on newegg's home page you can get news and info from there. in locations it says nothing about Midwest location. sorry to go off topic

 

I thought it was for a very short time during November/early December if you count the MIR but after redoing the numbers it should have been 90$, which is still a good deal, since I distinctly remember it going down 10$ after I purchased it. According to newegg I paid 100$ so idk where that 80$ came from >_>, sorry.

As for the 8800GT, I wonder where they dug that out from? They've been out of production for ages, so it must be old stock they found somewhere. Still a great deal of course.

 

I guess I should have specified my issue. That probably would help. Maybe, LOL! My brother just got his replacement HDTV. We're both pretty upset at how its specifications were posted online. It said that there were 3 HDMI, and 3 PC connections. What it meant was that the HDMI connections ARE the PC connections. Completely unacceptable. HDMI is not the PC standard yet. They had no right doing that. DVI is the standard right now. Although that is probably quickly becoming obsolete.
The HTPC has a VGA connection only. So rather than convert to dvi, then to HDMI, there has to be a cable(much like the one russ posted). Although the Xbox cable is not of any use to me. Simply a VGA to HDMI connection. I can't believe newegg does not sell such a device. I guess they're not that hot an item LOL! Dinodirect seems to have a decent price on that one.

 

That's perfectly legitimate. TVs never come with DVI ports unless they are also dedicated PC monitors, so you can't criticise them for that. The standard interfaces for hooking up a PC to a TV are VGA and HDMI, and the VGA receivers in TVs usually only accept 1280x1024 max, often only 1024x768. HDMI is the only realistic option for PCTV anyway.

 

Well...unless the TV wants to be a prick, I'm sure that running VGA(PC) to HDMI(TV) will allow for the full 1080 resolution. I had windows doing similar for quite sometime. So unless it detects a weak signal, It should be ok.

Thats bad! That'd look like crap on an HDTV LOL! I had no idea. Since I know that VGA can handle 1920 x 1080, I would have hooked right up to VGA first...

 

VGA to HDMI will work because the restriction on resolution is for the VGA port on the TV itself, not for VGA to TVs in general, but it will reduce the picture quality substantially since VGA is an analog interface.

 

LOL! I won't debate that. When I switched to DVI on my monitors, there was a fairly substantial difference in the image quality. And being his display size is twice the size of my monitors, the imperfections will probably show at least a little more

Trying to find them on ebay now too. They're around, but not in my area The closest shipper is in chicago Illinois. Gonna keep digging. Dinodirect is tempting, Though ebay is slightly cheaper (Of course).

 

Hey russ, since you posted the dinodirect link, where are they located? Have you ever bought from them. Is it california? Ebay is cheaper, but if dinodirects cable can get here sooner, I'll get that one LOL!

i think i just hit the buy button...lol

the 320gb im putting win7 64bit on it then ill have this and 2 of the 1001FALS drives and a wd500gb drive in the newbuild.

then in the 690 i will have 2x250gb hdds. thats all it needs. im thinking of takeing the mobo out tomorrow and putting the E8400 and CM hyper tx2 back on it and then the 690 rig will be done. other then taking out the hdds thats going in the 922 rig. and ODD's but those are 14 second job in itself.

 

Well, it looks like newegg has a decent brand PSU for an HTPC with TFX form factor.
Seasonic HTPC PSU
Unfortunately, despite them being the same supposed form factor, the seasonic is slightly larger, on most the dimensions. Unless my math is flawed somewhere. But I don't think so. Can't seem to find the definition for TFX form factor either. What I mean by definition is, the dimensions which are required to be met to be considered TFX. Cause apparently both the Seasonic (Above) is considered TFX, as well as my smaller TFX PSU that's made by HEC.
HEC power supply Which fits PERFECTLY in the HEC HTPC case. Sure wish that Seasonic would fit in there. I would respect a 300W seasonic over the HEC anyday! LOL!

Thanks russ. Some interesting info there. I'm probably gonna eventually buy that seasonic, since the HEC supply is doomed to failure. Of course i'll allow the HEC supply to run its course first And I'll mod the case where/if necessary.

Looks like I'm waiting til mid week at least, to get the HDMI to VGA converter cable. 3 places in town do not carry such a cable. I'll probably buy two, to insure I have one too LOL! I thought I could try and rig a temporary solution, but I don't have enough toys to do it. Short of mutilating wires of course LOL!
