hi..i have a Hewlett Packard HP PAVILION A714X AMD Athlon XP 3100+ 2.2GHz, 512MB DDRAM, 160.0GB Hard Drive and integrated graphics with 64mb shared video memory whatever that means and i was just wondering if there was any way i could upgrade it to a different video card so i can play battlefield 2 or would i have to buy a new computer?
check this link as you have a 8x agp slot http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...page=prodinfoCategory&cc=ca&docname=c00069442
You've come to the right place. First, if you wanna play Battlefield 2, you gotta check out the list of compatible video cards. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/214319 A lot of video cards wont play Battlefield 2, so you gotta choose carefully. Now, Im buying a video card to play Battlefield 2 and to upgrade from my 64MB shared integrated video card, and I have decided to go with this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102335 It will play Battlefield 2 and is a very good card for a very good price. I'd recommend that card, but you can go around and ask more folks here on these forums. ---Oh and yeah, you can upgrade, I am almost certain that you would have an agp slot.
oh..ok, but if i get like a high end video card wouldnt i have to buy like more fans to cool it down or somthing?
if those are for the cpu & psu than get 2 more. 1 for front of case to pull air in & the 2nd for back of case to blow air out
i dont know if its a case fan or video card fan this is the one im getting though http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102335
the videocard has a fan on it so if possible try to get 2 more fans for front & back of case as i mentioned in my earlier post.
ok..change of plans that other card is too high for my budget, im debating on which one i should get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814102326 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814125124 there both pretty cheap just wanted to ask you guys which one would better suit my computer
You know...for $5 more, you can get 256MB instead of 128MBhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102335
yeah i wanna get the 256 but cant break the 100 dollar range...how much do you think the 256mb one would sell for at like bestbuy or somthing? if i can convince my mom im getting a good deal then i can get it?
You wont be going over the $100, but you'll be pretty close. Trust me kid, for only $5 more, a 128MB difference is a VERY good deal. That video would cost AT LEAST twice as much at a retail store. That video card is an amazing deal, and hey, you could probably find the extra $5 under the couch or something.
the 256mb is 103.59 but yeah ragnarok2 what kinda computer do you have and when are you gonna get the video card cause i just wanna see if it will work before i shell out the money to find out that it doesnt..i know its a good piece of equipment jsut dont know if my computer can handle it w/o buying another fan..
Im not getting it for a few months cause im grounded, but you should read the reviews on it at newegg.com. Most people list what types of systems they have in their comments. Ive got a 2.8 Celeron D and 512MB DDR RAM, and I cant wait to get the little bastard. This one guy on Newegg has a Pentium 4 at 2.4 and 1.25Gigs of ram, and he says hes running Far Cry very smoothly on his comp. And I dont see how you got $103...theres no taxes at newegg and shipping is only $2, thats $94.99. Oh yeah one more thing, the video card has a fan(obviously), so I dont see why you're worried so much.
