Why is it taking so much time to encode and burn ?

I have noticed that it is taking an hour to encode and an hour to burn some of the new movies. Is this normal? How can I speed it up. I have a Memorex 16x and it hasn't been taking that long. I had to format my hard drive and re install all my programs. If any one has any ideas please let me know.

Check and make sure your data transfer is in DMA, and not PIO.

If this is not the case, then if your using the quality settings,it can take alot longer, depending on compression, movie size, system specs.
    good luck

What programs are you using to rip and burn?
This wont effect your time, but Memorex imho is junk media.

Thanks for the info on DMA. My primary where my 2 hard drives are were set on DMA but my secondary was set on PIO where my burner and reader are connected. I tried it after I changed the settings and it is flying again. Thanks alot again.
