xbox softmod help needed.

Does anyone know where i can download the MS 5960 1.6? I am having some issues with a hard drive and need these files. THanks.

ok, i need help
--im using a SanDisk micro 256mb usb to transfer the files
--i also have an adapter for my xbox(hooks into contrler port with a female usb on the other end.
--i have tried about 20 different programs for mechassault
--i do have the original version
--But every time when i plug the usb port in at my dashboard(xboxlive enabled) it says that the memory unit is corrupted and erases it.
--i have never seen the "run linux" at the mechassault campain or in the memory tab at my dashboard.
--every time i plug it into my computer it makes me format it.
--i can not put any new files on to my usb without my computer formatting it. i use windows 98 or xp not sure.
--i downloaded action replay from the net, so i have the software and the program with all the files but none of the hard ware.
--i am very good at using mirc. i have that figured out. i fairly understand how to use flashfxp. But i am able to use it.
--i have deleted all of my original MA saves from my xbox harddrive.
--when i run campain i only see the profile for "mechwarrior" nothing about linux.
Is there a certain way im suppose to turn or restart my xbox so my usb isnt erased? Or am i suppose to wait for my xbox to format the usb, if so HOW LONG?

I have recently used the linux installer with mechassault and all is fine except on thing. When i boot the box up with the tray open it goes back to the initial mod screen instead of my unleash x dashboard. Although it is a good feature is there any way to make it so that when i turn it on via opening the tray that it will still go to my unleash dash? Just curious.

Don't turn on via opening the tray. I know that may sound sarcsastic towards your post but trust me it's not meant to be, just hear me out.

When you power on the xbox that way, I think a screen comes on that looks like the MATRIX Language. I also believe it tells you

It actually just says the main installer options. It says nothing about turn me back off or anything. It looks like the unleash x default skin yet it says Create backup, delete backup, Restore backup, install softmod, install evox, install Unleash x, Patch ms 59??, and so forth. I had a linux mod on the box before i upped the hdd but since i did and i modded it myself it now has this safety feature that is there, from what i can tell, to take the mod off. with the other mod i had before i could turn it on by opening the tray and it would auto load my evox dash. I really hope this makes since because i know it is possible because i had it before. i just want to know how to get it back this way. its not that i cant live with it like this it is just annoying since i am used to the other way. Any help would be good. THanks again.

 

Well, that's the screen that initiates the install of a softmod. I'm really not a fan of softmods or pro by any means but I know to get 'em working. If that screen comes up and this is a different install than the one you did before then you might just have to live with it. It doesn't sound like the softmod you're using now is gonna let you boot that way. You should either revert to your prior one or kinda take in the newness.
