i have anydvd and clonedvd2 and i am having problems backing up dvds. first off it takes about 40 minutes to create the dvd files (before burning) and then it takes another 40 minutes to burn reagrdless of what speed i choose. are these times normal using this setup? i am using a cyberhome dvd burner which supports all formats (it was a gift) and memorex 8x dvd+r's. it sometimes stops at 10% burning and clonedvd2 closes by itself (no error messages or anything). is there a better/faster/more reliable setup? i have dvdshrink, dvd decrypter, nero, anydvd, clonedvd2. can someone help me?
May I ask what is the spec of your computer? I have a P4 2.8, 1 Gig Ram and a NEC DVD Burner. On average it takes 20 to 25 min to read and about 10 to 15 min to burn. Hope this is of some help, Cheers Mark
I have a AMD Athlon 1.4, 512 Ram and a cyberhome dvd burner compatible with all formats. yes i know, a bit outdated but my computer is 3 years old.
In that case your 40min to read and 40min to burn is about normal. 1. Make shure you have no Virus or spyware on board as this can eat into your CPU Speed and slow things down. 2. Close down as may programs as you can. 3. Are you using NTFS or FAT.? 4. Use DMA for your DVD burner
40 mins to burn is way too long - at 4X it should take approx 14-15 minutes. Your computer specs are reasonable - with a PIII 800, 256RAM, I burn in under 15 minutes with an encoding time usually btwn 15 to 35 minutes. You need to ensure that you are operating in DMA mode. Other suspects for slow burnning speeds are Spyware, Virus's or fragmented hard drive.
I am using FAT file system. Is this a problem? How do i change to NTFS? How do i make sure i am in DMA mode? Could it be the DVD burner? I am using a cyberhome 162 dvd burner.
I am not familiar with that burner but I had a similar problem before when i got my dvd burner(Memorex x8 external burner)it would take about 45 minutes to burn. It turned out that since my computer was about 2 or 3 years old i did not have USB 2(high speed) ports. I purchased the usb 2 card and now it burn in about 15 mins. Hope this helps...
i returned the cyberhome burner (p.o.s.). maybe i got a abad one but im not taking any chances. i got a sony and i am impressed. it burns memorex 8x at 12x with no problems. thanks for the suggestions though. now it burns in about 7 minutes and total time for backing up a movie is 35-45 minutes...i backed up a two and half hour movie in about one hour and 20 minutes.
Ive used Clone Dvd 2 And Any Dvd programs Are Awsome Burns Whole Dvd in 30 minutes and good quality Too! Nec 3500 From New egg thats the burner that flys
FUTRIACO, just a little info for your notebook. Burning above 4x will usually cause playback issues. You can try a few above 4x. You may get lucky but most members burn at 4x or below. Speed isn't everything, its the quality of the burn that counts. Good luck. Jerry
im using clone dvd2 and get an error it reads the movie in 40 minits and the when it wants to burn it says writing to video dvd was not successfull write dvd 10 5
